RACE NO.1(129) –THE TATTERSALLS MILLION: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 7

On arrival at the start, HODSON’S HORSE (S.A.Amit) was examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. who certified him fit to race.

KING KHALIL (Yash Narredu) refused to be stalled despite substantial efforts, as such the gelding was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. After being stalled, BARACK (Leigh Roche) played up and flipped over in the stall and thereafter bolted rider-less towards the Winning Post. As such BARACK was also withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. All the other horses which were stalled were unloaded and later re-stalled once BARACK was apprehended. Trainers Deepesh Narredu and P.Shroff have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

Jockey Sunny Chenoy (USTAD PEDRO) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. After the race Jockey Sunny Chinoy reported that his mount hung out and he had used the whip as a corrective measure, as such no action was taken against him. However, Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

An objection was lodged by Jockey S.A.Amit, the rider of HODSON’S HORSE (Placed Third) against USTAD PEDRO (Sunny Chinoy, Placed Second). The reason being, in the last furlong, USTAD PEDRO came on to him very sharply whereby he had to stop riding and check his horse. Further, USTAD PEDRO kept drifting out and took him out all the way which cost him certain second place.

After considering the submissions made by Jockey Sunny Chinoy and Jockey S.A.Amit who was accompanied by Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgement, the Stewards upheld the objection and revised the order of placing of the race as under :-

HELLS BELLS - FIRST; USTAD PEDRO - THIRD;

HODSON’S HORSE - SECOD; PERPETUAL WINNING - FOURTH

In the above connection, the Stewards directed the Stipendiary Stewards to initiate action against Jockey Sunny Chinoy for careless riding on his mount USTAD PEDRO. Accordingly, the Stipendiary Stewards decided to suspend Jockey Sunny Chinoy from riding in races for 1 Race Day i.e. on 21^st February, 2019 for careless riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).

The Sr.V.O. reported that HODSON’S HORSE came back in distress. After cold water hosing and First Aid treatment, the gelding recovered and was sent to the stable.

After the race, PERPETUAL WINNING and MY PRECIOUS were trotted and found to be sound.

RACE NO.2(130) – THE RUSI PATEL TROPHY (GR.3): (About) 1600 Metres – Runners -8

The Sr.V.O. reported that BIG SUR was declared to run with both fore bonded shoes but ran with all four plain aluminium shoes. Trainer S.Padmanabhan has been fined Rs.1,000/- for his lapse.

After the race, SERJEANT AT ARMS was trotted and found to be sound.

RACE NO.3(131) – THE EBCO WORKSMART BREEDERS’ PRODUCE STAKES (GR.3): (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 9

On the way to the start, SILENT GUARDIAN (Neeraj Rawal) dislodged the rider and bolted towards the start. SILENT GUARDIAN was apprehended at the starting point and examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. who certified him fit to race.

Consequent to Jockey Robbie Downey (MISHKA’S PRIDE) being unable to draw the declared weight on his mount, the Stewards permitted Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait to declare Jockey Akshay Kumar on MISHKA’S PRIDE. The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held after the races interviewed Jockey Robbie Downey in the above connection and having heard him, decided to caution him for having accepted the ride on MISHKA’S PRIDE despite him being aware that he could not draw the weight thus failing to fulfill his riding engagement.

Soon after the start, CAPONE (N. S. Parmar, dr.5) shifted in on to SPEED AIR (Yash Narredu, dr.4), who in turn shifted in and made contact with TROUVAILLE (P. Trevor, dr.3). Jockey N. S. Parmar has been cautioned.

Passing 1000 metres, HUNT FOR GOLD (Y. S. Srinath) shifted in thereby bumping and boring MALWA (A. Sandesh) forcing it inwards on to SILENT GUARDIAN (Neeraj Rawal). After questioning, Jockey Y. S. Srinath has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

Passing 900 metres, SPEED AIR (Yash Narredu) was held up for room along the rails and had to be steadied.

Passing 300 metres, SILENT GUARDIAN (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in and went across TROUVAILLE (P.Trevor) forcing the latter to be checked and change course . After the race Jockey Neeraj Rawal reported that his mount hung in despite his efforts. Trainer Neil Darashah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race his charge.

The Sr.V.O. reported that SPEED AIR came back in distress. After cold water hosing and First Aid treatment, the colt recovered and was sent to the stable.

After the race, MALWA was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind cannon. SILENT GUARDIAN was examined at the stables in the morning on 04/02/2019 and found to be sound in the trot but having a cut injury at the right fore cannon.

RACE NO.4(132) – THE S.M.SHAH ECLIPSE STAKES OF INDIA (GR.2): (About) 2000 Metres – Runners- 11

OOMPH (Akshay Kumar) and SELFIE STAR (Neeraj Rawal) jumped out slow losing about 2 lengths each at the start.

After the race, SUPREME GENERAL was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, DESERT GOD, SELFIE STAR, CAPRISCA (examined on 04/02/2019) and SMASHER (examined on 04/02/2019), were trotted and found to be sound.

RACE NO.5(133) – THE B.K.RATTONSEY MEMORIAL MAIDEN MULTI-MILLION: (About) 1200 Metres –Runners- 12

After being stalled, GODS PLAN (Imran Chisty) played up in the stall and hooked one of his fore leg on the front gates. The colt was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. who certified him fit to race. Trainer Vishal Gaikwad has been asked to give the colt more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

The Sr.V.O. reported that DESERT EMPIRE was declared to run with both fore bonded shoes but ran with all four plain aluminium shoes. Trainer S.Padmanabhan has been fined Rs.1,000/- for his lapse.

Passing 550 metres, ELATION (Leigh Roche) shifted out thereby inconveniencing DESERT EMPIRE (David Allan). Jockey Leigh Roche has been cautioned.

Passing 100 metres, HEADWAY (S. Zervan) shifted in and went across DIVINE GLORY (A. Sandesh) who had to be steadied. Jockey S.Zervan has been cautioned.

Jockey Suraj Narredu (MISSING YOU) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence during the current Mumbai Meeting, he has been fined Rs 3,000/-.

RACE NO.6(134) – THE KINGFISHER ULTRA INDIAN DERBY (GR.1): (About) 2400 Metres – Runners – 14

Trainer P. Shroff has been fined Rs.1,000/- for accepting with his ROBERTA in this race, while the filly was on the vet ban. The filly struck out at acceptance stage.

VINTAGE (S.Zervan) jumped out slow and thereafter stopped galloping. In view of the bad behavior of the gelding, Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures and show his charge in two Mock Races to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards before next accepting with him to race.

After the race, SIR CECIL was found to be sore by the left fore leg and has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

The Sr.V.O. reported that BLUEBELL was examined at the stables in the morning on 04/02/2019 and found to be sound in the trot.

RACE NO.7(135) – THE PADMINI & GOBIND JHANGIANI MILLION: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 12

After being stalled, INTENSE STYLIST (P.Trevor) played up in the stall. The gelding was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. and found to be sore by the left hind leg, as such he was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. Trainer S.K.Sunderji has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race. Further, INTENSE STYLIST has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

Approaching 900 metres, BENEFACTOR (Akshay) shifted out thereby taking the ground of FLAMING MARTINI (David Allan) causing the latter to be checked and drop back. Jockey Akshay has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

At the top of the straight , BENEFACTOR (Akshay) shifted out thereby forcing ALBARETO (N. S. Parmar) outwards on to PABLO (A. Sandesh) who had to be checked. After questioning, Jockey Akshay has been cautioned.

Passing 250 metres, PABLO (A. Sandesh) shifted in thereby tightening SHIVALIK QUEEN (App. K. Nazil) who had to be steadied. Jockey A. Sandesh has been cautioned.

After the race, BENEFACTOR was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

The Sr.V.O. reported that as informed by Trainer S.K.Sunderji on 05/02/2019 and verification after stable visit, COLLEGIUM was found to have sustained a clip injury on his right hind leg. The gelding trotted sound at the time of examination.

RACE NO.8(136) –THE DR.M.A.M.RAMASWAMY MILLION: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 12

At the start, FIRE FLAME (J.Chinoy, dr.9) jumped outwards due to which MIGHTY WARRIOR (Bhawani Singh, dr.10) and TEODOR MONTE (App.A.S.Peter, dr.11) had to be checked. Jockey J.Chinoy has been cautioned.

Soon after the start, DIVINE POWER (N.S.Parmar, dr.5) who was drawn between BONAFIDE (Yash Narredu, dr.4) and SHARAREH (P.S.Chouhan, dr.6) was tightened for room and dropped back.

Passing 450 metres, MIGHTY WARRIOR (Bhawani Singh) shifted out thereby starting a chain reaction, due to which FIRE FLAME (J.Chinoy) and GODSWORD (Sunny Chinoy) were inconvenienced and TEODOR MONTE (App.A.S.Peter) and LOIRE (App. N. B. Kuldeep) had to be checked. Jockey Bhawani Singh has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

Passing 250 metres, SHARAREH (P.S.Chouhan) shifted in and at the same time TRUE GRIT (App.R.Ajinkya) shifted out, due to which SHARAREH had to be steadied.

After the race, GODSWORD was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, SHARAREH was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, MIGHTY WARRIOR, FIRE FLAME (examined on 04/02/2019) and FIREWINGS (examined on 04/02/2019) were trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd, 4^th, 5^th, 6^th, 7^th and 8^th race, viz. HELLS BELLS, NEW ENGLAND, HUNT FOR GOLD, SMASHER, HEADWAY, STAR SUPERIOR, FLAMING MARTINI and TRUE GRIT, as also that of COSTA BRAVE (2^nd race), TROUVAILLE (3^rd race), DESERT GOD (4^th race) and ADJUDICATE and SIR CECIL (6^th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
