RACE DAY REPORT

 

RAILS WERE PLACED AT THEIR ORIGINAL POSITION. RAILS WERE PLACED 6 METRES WIDE IN THE CHUTE.

 

On a request from Trainer M. Narredu, permission was granted to Trainer Deepesh Narredu to saddle his charge LUMINEER in the 2nd race, GUNFIRE in the 5th race, STAR DREAM in the 8th race and WHISPER in the 9th race, at his own (Trainer M. Narredu’s) risk and responsibility.

 

RACE NO.1 (17) – THE ROYAL PRINCESS PLATE: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 7

 

After being stalled, SPANISH EYES (Akshay Kumar, dr.5) was fractious, reared up and placed her fore into the adjacent stall. Subsequently, the mare was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. Veterinary Officer and was found to have injuries on both its hind legs below the stifle, as such, the mare was permitted to be withdrawn on veterinary grounds before coming under the Starter’s order. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the mare to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

OLIVER (Vivek G., dr.6) was reluctant to be stalled. As such, Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the starter at  morning starting trials, before next  accepting to race.

 

At the start, MATISSE (App. S. Siddharth, dr.7) jumped outwards onto LOOKING LIKE A WOW (App. Ramswarup, dr.8) causing the latter to be steadied.

 

Soon after the start, OLIVER (Vivek G.) shifted in and went across DREAMER (N. S. Parmar) causing the latter to check and drop back, due to this incident RAMBLER (S. Mosin) racing on its haunches had to be checked. Jockey Vivek G. has been cautioned.

 

Passing the 900 metres, OLIVER (Vivek G.) shifted out at the same time DREAMER (N. S. Parmar) leaned inwards due to which SENECA (A. Sandesh) racing between them was tightened for room and had to be checked. Jockeys Vivek G. and Jockey N. S Parmar have been cautioned.

 

After the race, the Jockeys reported the following:

 

Jockey Vivek G. (OLIVER) reported that the saddle used on his mount slipped after the start. This being the first instance of faulty saddling during the current Pune Meeting 2026, Trainer P. Shroff has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

Jockey T. S. Jodha (MANSA MUSA) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight, despite his efforts. As such, Trainer Behram Cama has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, the Veterinary officer reported the following:

 

OLIVER was trotted and found to be sound.

 

DREAMER was observed to have injuries on both its hind fetlocks.

 

LOOKING LIKE A WOW was observed to have an injury on its left hind pastern.

 

RACE NO.2 (18) – THE DR. P. K. SARDESHMUKH MAHARAJ TROPHY  - DIVISION II: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 11

 

SABI SANDS (Neeraj Rawal, dr.7) lost about a length at the start.

 

At the start, LUMINEER (A. S. Peter, dr.2) jumped outwards thereby bumping and cutting across NORAIAH (Antony Raj S., dr.3), due to this incident DESERT DIAMOND (Amyn Merchant, dr.4) was also inconvenienced.

 

Passing the 350 metres, LUMINEER (A. S. Peter) was observed to have shifted out despite the rider’s effort and went across GOLDEN AXL (J. Chinoy) and thereafter finished the race on the outer portion of the track. After the race, Jockey A. S. Peter reported that his mount hung-out in the straight, despite his efforts. Keeping in mind the Jockeys report and in view of a similar behavior of the filly in her previous start. Trainer M. Narredu has been asked show his charge in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, before next accepting to race.

 

Passing the 300 metres, MAHOGANY (Vivek G.) shifted in and went across NORAIAH (Antony Raj S.) causing the latter to check and change course. Jockey Vivek G. has been cautioned.

 

After the race, Jockey Shrikant Kamble (POWEROFATTITUDE) reported loss of whip passing the 400 metres. This being the first instance during the current Pune Meeting 2026, no action has been initiated.

 

After the race, the Veterinary officer reported the following:

 

YINSIRUK was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have an injury on its right hind fetlock.

 

RACE NO.3 (19) – THE AUGUST HANDICAP: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 7

 

While rolling GOLDEN EYE in front of the starting gate, the filly reared up and flipped over, as such, the filly was examined by the Club’s Sr. Veterinary Officer who certified her fit to race.

 

GOLDEN EYE (A. Sandesh, dr.7) was fractious and reluctant to be stalled. As such, Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to give hive his charge more gate practice and show the filly to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race. After the race Jockey A. Sandesh reported that his charge rushed the front gates and stated that there was a fractional delay between the blind fold being removed and the start being given. Having viewed the replay, Jockey A. Sandesh’s reporting has been noted, it was also observed that the filly had rushed the front gates as the start was effected.

 

HERMANUS (Yash Narredu, dr.4) was fractious in the stall. As such, Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the colt to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, GOLDEN EYE (A. Sandesh, dr.7) jumped outwards and had to be steadied.

 

Passing the 1200 metres, SNOWGIRL (Akshay Kumar) racing between ALPHA STRIKE (P. Trevor) and GOLDEN EYE (A. Sandesh) was tightened for room and had to be checked.

 

Approaching the 200 metres, Jockey Vivek G. (AVANTE) was observed to have forced a passage and in the process bumping and forcing SPECTRA (Antony Raj S.) outwards, who in turn shifted out thereby bumping and unbalancing SNOWGIRL (Akshay Kumar) racing on its outside, due to this incident HERMANUS (Yash Narredu) was also inconvenienced. After questioning and not being satisfied with the explanation, Jockey Vivek G. has been suspended for two Race Days i.e. on 22nd and 29th August 2026 (permitted to ride work/mock race) for careless riding on his mount.

 

After the race, the Veterinary officer reported the following:

 

GOLDEN EYE was trotted and found to be sound.

 

ALPHA STRIKE was observed to have an injury on its right hind pastern.

 

The Equine Hospital reported the following:

 

HERMANUS sustained a left eye injury (sore).

 

RACE NO.4 (20) – THE ORANGE FLAME PLATE: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 11

 

NOSTALGIA (C. S. Jodha, dr.11) was marginally slow to begin at the start.

 

Soon after the start, LORD AND MASTER (P. Trevor) shifted in thereby bumping and forcing HOUSE OF LORDS (App. Avinash Paswan) inwards despite the rider’s effort due to which ALGONQUIN (Antony Raj S.) and MERCHANT OF VENICE (Shrikant Kamble) were tightened for room and had to be checked. After the race, Jockey P. Trevor reported that his mount hung-in despite his efforts, considering that the gelding has repeatedly behaved in a similar manner, Trainer Shazaan Shah has been asked to show his charge in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, before next accepting to race.

 

Approaching the 200 metres, MERCHANT OF VENICE (Shrikant Kamble) shifted in and went across HOUSE OF LORDS (App. Avinash Paswan) causing the latter to be steadied. Jockey Shrikant Kamble has been cautioned.

 

Jockey P. Trevor (LORD AND MASTER) was observed to have used the whip in an improper manner approaching the 350 metres. As such, he has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

After the race, the Jockeys reported the following:

 

App. Ramswarup (SEMURG) reported that the saddle used on his mount had slipped soon after the start. This bring the first instance of faulty saddling during the current Pune Meeting 2026, Trainer Himmat Singh has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

Jockey R Aiinkya (LA DOLCE VITA) reported that his mount was not galloping fluently, the mare was subject to veterinary examination and found to be sound.

 

After the race, the Veterinary officer reported the following:

 

LORD AND MASTER was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have an injury on both its hind fetlocks.

 

STARIA was trotted and found to be sound. Further, at the request of Trainer P. S. Chouhan an endoscopy was performed on the filly and was found to have a mild upper respiratory tract infection.

 

The Equine Hospital reported the following:

 

MAI TAI sustained a left eye injury (sore).

 

RACE NO.5 (21) – THE GOLFING PLATE: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS - 10

 

STORM CLOUD (App. Avinash Paswan, dr.3) was observed to have lost about a length at the start.

 

At the start, MANOR HOUSE (Akshay Gaikwad, dr.5) jumped inwards onto DON JULIO (App. Haridas Gore, dr.4).

 

Passing the 200 metres, DON JULIO (App. Haridas Gore) leaned out and went across CINDERELLA’S DREAM (A. Sandesh) who had to be steadied. App. Haridas Gore has been cautioned.

 

In the final stages of the race, CINDERELLA’S DREAM (A. Sandesh) shifted out under the whip and went across MANOR HOUSE (Akshay Gaikwad)  causing the latter to be checked. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey A. Sandesh has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

After the race, the Veterinary officer reported the following:

 

DON JULIO was observed to have an injury on its left hind pastern.

 

The Equine Hospital reported the following:

 

STORM CLOUD sustained a left eye injury (sore).

 

RACE NO.6 (22) – THE ALTAF HUSSAIN MILLION: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 7

 

At the start, ARDAKAN (P. Trevor dr.7) jumped outwards and had to be steadied, further ARDAKAN was observed to have weakened from the 600 metres and dropped back thereby trailing the field. After the race, the gelding was subjected to veterinary examination and found to be sound. Further at the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards an endoscopy was performed on the gelding and no abnormality was detected, the gelding was again examined by the Club’s Chief Veterinary officer in the Equine Hospital at 11.40 a.m. on 3rd August 2026 and trotted sound. However, on thorough examination, it was found that the gelding has mild pain on both fore proximal suspensory ligaments with pain and palpation in the back area.

 

Approaching the 200 metres, OPUS DEI (Yash Narredu) shifted out under pressure and went across EARTH (App. Haridas Gore) thereafter further shifted out taking the ground of AMAZING RULER (A. Sandesh) racing on its haunches. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey Yash Narredu has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

Jockey Vivek G. (CHAGALL) was observed to have used the whip in an excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence during the current Pune Meeting 2026, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

RACE NO.7 (23) – THE EVE CHAMPION TROPHY  (GRADE 3): (ABOUT) 2000 METRES – RUNNERS - 4

RACE NO.8 (24) – THE DR. P. K. SARDESHMUKH MAHARAJ TROPHY  - DIVISION I: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 12

 

Trainer P. S. Chouhan informed that inadvertently he forgot to apply shoeing for his charge FRENZY and requested that he be permitted to use “Both Fore Wedge Heel” on his charge, the permission has been granted for the same and he has been fined Rs.1,000/- for the lapse.

 

Trainer P. S. Chouhan informed that inadvertently he forgot to apply shoeing for his charge RAINBOW CONNECTION and requested that he be permitted to use “Both Fore Century Support” on his charge, the permission has been granted for the same and he has been fined Rs.1,000/- for the lapse.

 

Trainer Nosher Cama informed that inadvertently he applied “All Aluminium” shoeing for his charge STYX and requested that he be permitted to use “All Four High Heels” on his charge, the permission has been granted for the same and he has been fined Rs.1,000/- for the lapse.

 

FRENZY (Dashrath Singh, dr.8) lost about a length at the start.

 

STYX (T. S. Jodha dr.9) lost about two lengths at the start.

 

At the start, PURE SOUL (P. Trevor dr.11) jumped inwards and went across RAINBOW CONNECTION (Vivek G., dr.10) who was marginally slow to begin.

 

Approaching the 200 metres, ECHO (C. S. Jodha) shifted out and went across MIDNIGHT HAMMER (Amyn Merchant) causing the latter to be steadied. Jockey C. S. Jodha has been cautioned.

 

After the race, the Veterinary officer reported the following:

 

FRENZY was trotted at the stables and found to be sound but was observed to have an injury on its right hind pastern.

 

SPORTING ALICE was observed to have an injury on its left hind coronet.

 

STAR DREAM was observed to have a gum injury and an injury on its right hind pastern.

 

PURE SOUL was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by left fore. As such, the filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

The Equine Hospital reported the following:

 

MANUEL sustained a right eye injury (sore).

 

PURE SOUL sustained a right eye injury (sore) with ulcer.

 

RACE NO.9 (25) – THE ZEPHYR BAY PLATE: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 8

 

An objection was lodged by Jockey Yash Narredu (WHISPER) placed 4th by the Judge against Jockey A. S. Peter (MA CHERIE) placed 3rd by the Judge, reason being, “approaching the 200 metres MA CHERIE starts coming onto him squeezing him in which left his horse no room to stride because of which he had to stop riding for 3 to 4 strides, if he had did not have to stop riding he would have finished certain 2nd place”. After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with the Stipendiary Stewards, having viewed the video recording of the race from multiple angles and relying on their own observation of the race, the Stewards found the incident accidental and decided to overrule the objection and the order of placing remained unchanged.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of LIGHTNING BLAZE (App. N. Bhosale) and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, the Veterinary officer reported the following:

 

WHISPER was observed to have an injury on both its fore bulb of heel and right hind pastern.

The urine and blood samples of the MAHOGANY (Winner – 2nd race), SEMURG (Winner – 4th race), CHAGALL (Winner – 6th race), KINGS GAMBIT (Winner – 7th race), DREAM ALLIANCE (2nd place – 7th race), HER CHARGE (Winner – 9th race) and the special samples of GOLDEN EYE (3rd race) & PURE SOUL (8th race) were collected for detection of prohibited substances.
