On a request from Trainer S.S.Attaollahi, permission was granted to Trainer P.Shroff to saddle his charge LUCKY THIRTEEN in the 6th race, at his (Trainer S.S.Attaollahi’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(177) – THE ROYAL CHALLENGE ‘GAME FOR LIFE’ CUP (DIV.II):(About)1200 Metres– Runners-14

 

ASHWA YODHAA (P.S.Chouhan) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.  

 

SNOW KING (App.Sandeep Jadhav) stumbled at the start and was slow to begin.

 

Soon after the start, DOUBLE DIAMOND (Dashrath Singh) commenced to shift-in before the red marker and continued to do so and in the process went across the entire field on his inside. Jockey Dashrath Singh has been fined Rs 2,000/-.

 

Near 900 metres, RAMBUTAN (A.Sandesh) and TRAFFIC JAM (Kavraj Singh) were involved in a jostle on a couple of occasions.

 

Trainer Narendra Lagad and Jockey V.Chandrakant were questioned regarding the running and riding of ROCK THE TURF and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered, the matter was reported to the Stewards as the Jockey was observed not to have ridden-out his mount during the race to its complete advantage and it was possible that the horse could have finished on board.

 

The Stewards interviewed Trainer Narendra Lagad and Jockey V Chandrakant and having heard them and having viewed the video recording of the race, were not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey V.Chandrakant and held him guilty of not permitting his mount ROCK THE TURF to run on its merits. The Stewards noted that he had been punished recently at the end of the Pune Meeting 2013 for unsatisfactory riding on DARK KNIGHT in Race No.228 and this was his repeated offence. Taking an overall view and keeping in mind that the horse was a longer odds, the Stewards took a lenient view and decided           to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 20th February, 2014 till the end of the Mumbai Meeting 2013/14 (permitted to ride work);

 

The Stewards were also not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer Narendra Lagad and held the view that the Jockey would have not ridden in this manner unless he had the Trainer’s tacit approval. Therefore, they decided to fine him a sum of Rs.25,000/-.

 

Jockey B.Nikhil (BLUSH) reported the loss of whip near 350 metres from the winning post. This being the second occasion of him losing the whip during the current Mumbai Meeting, he has fined Rs 1,000/-.

 

After the race, SUN HOT, DOUBLE DIAMOND, ICE RINK and ROCK THE TURF were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(178) –THE FOUR SEASONS CUP: (About) 1600 Metres –Runners - 7  

 

At the request of Trainer Narendra Lagad, QUICK ANGEL was examined at 1130 hours on 31/01/2014 and was found to be sore by left fore leg. Also noticed abscess  on coronet, right fore. As such the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit to race by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race. 

DAISHONIN (P.S.Chouhan) lugged-in the straight. Trainer Rehanllah Khan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Jockey C.D.Hayes (STRATEGIC MOVE) reported that the gelding was coughing after the race. The Trainer opted to scope the horse. The Sr.V.O. reported that at the request of Trainer Karthik G. STRATEGIC MOVE was scoped after the race at the Equine Hospital and reported to be having EIPH (Grade II).

 

After the race, STRATEGIC MOVE was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, HIGH EXPECTATION was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind coronet.

 

RACE NO.3(179)– THE  WHITE MISCHIEF CUP:(About)1000 Metres– Runners–15

 

After being stalled, GANGNAM STYLE (Shrikant Kamble) ducked the front gates. The gelding was taken out and examined by the Club’s V.O. who certified him fit to race.

 

At the start, GANGNAM STYLE (Shrikant Kamble) was tightened and lost position.

 

Approaching 800 metres, MAGIC STAR (B.Nikhil) shifted-in and went on to INCENTIO (C.S.Jodha), who in turn went on to BRINDABAN (Neeraj Rawal) who lost position. Jockey B.Nikhil has been fined Rs 2,000/-.

 

Passing 800 metres, CATHARSIS (Imran Chisty) was tightened when NATIONAL GLORY (S.G.Prasad) shifted-in and took its running. A short time later, CATHARSIS was tightened while racing on the inside of VICTORIOUS MARCH (P.S.Chouhan). Jockey S.G.Prasad has been fined Rs 2,000/-.

 

Jockey A.Sandesh (WAY OUT) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift in passing 400 metres and in the process going across INVINCIBLE (Kavraj Singh).

 

After the race, EMERGING STAR and GANGNAM STYLE were observed to have broken a blood vessel and are not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. Both the horses have to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that ICE EMPIRE was pulled up by the Jockey near 200 metres mark. On examination, the gelding was found to be sore from the right fore leg. First Aid treatment was given and the gelding was sent to the Equine Hospital by Horse Ambulance for further management. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, HAWK OF THE WIND was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, PITBULL, BRINDABAN, WINGS OF GLORY and MAGIC STAR (examined on 03/01/2014), were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(180) – THE R.N.KANGA GOLD TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 6

 

At the start, STORM TRACKER (P.Trevor, dr.2) jumped awkwardly outwards and jostled with HACHIKO (A.Sandesh, dr.3).

Jockey Dashrath Singh (DÉJÀ VU) has been cautioned for using the whip with excessive frequency.

 

After the race, CLINTON was observed to be sound. The gelding had lost its right hind plate.

 

RACE NO.5(181) – THE ANTIQUITY BLUE ‘FUSION OF THE FINEST’ CUP: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 10

 

In the process of stalling, STAR OF BABYLON (Dashrath Singh) charged the front gate dislodging the rider who was

hurt and unable to ride. As such, STAR OF BABYLON was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order.

 

Jockey Prabhu Naidu (ZIDAAN) has been reprimanded for shifting-in before the Red Marker.

 

Approaching 1200 metres, PRESIDENTIAL (R.Woodworth) shifted inwards forcing CYCLOPS (Kavraj Singh) to shift in, due to which GLORIOUS REWARD (P.S.Chouhan) shifted in and took the running of NUSH (Imran Chisty), who clipped the heels of the former and stumbled.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the poor performance of PRESIDENTIAL and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, GLORIOUS  REWARD was found to be sore by the left fore leg. Also, the gelding had lost its right fore plate. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, MIGHTY KING, NUSH and PRESIDENTIAL were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(182) – THE  McDOWELL’S NO.1 PLATINUM TROPHY: (About) 2400 Metres – Runners – 13 

 

After being stalled, LUCKY THIRTEEN (C.S.Jodha) hooked one if its hind leg on the side platform. The gelding was taken out and restalled.

 

ZLATO (J.Fortune) was slow in the stride, losing about 3 lengths at the start. 

 

At the start, WIND AND RAIN (Hanumant Singh, dr.11) jumped awkwardly inwards and at the same time AVIATOR (P.Trevor, dr.10) jumped awkwardly outwards and made contact with each other. Due to the impact, AVIATOR shifted in and at the same time WISH UPON A STAR (S.G.Prasad, dr.7) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to RICHOCHET (Kavraj Singh, dr.8) who in turn went on to LUCKY THIRTEEN (C.S.Jodha, dr.9) who made contact with AVIATOR.

 

Approaching 1400 metres, WISH UPON A STAR (S.G.Prasad) drifted outwards and trailed the field. On questioning, Jockey S.G.Prasad informed that the gelding drifted despite his efforts and in trying to control his mount, the saddle had slipped to one side. Trainer Mansoor Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Jockey R.Hughes (REYNOLDS) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift-in near 500 metres and in the process going across the field on his inside.

 

Jockey Kavraj Singh (RICOCHET) reported the loss of whip near 200 metres. This being the third occasion of him losing the whip during the current Mumbai Meeting, he has been fined Rs 5,000/-.

 

After the race, CLIFFS OF MOORE was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(183) – THE B.K.RATTONSEY MEMORIAL MAIDEN MULTI-MILLION: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 15

 

At the start, LAST CHANCE (Y.S.Srinath, dr.7) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to IRIDESCENCE (B.Sreekanth, dr.6).

 

STRAWBERRY CRUSH (P.Trevor, dr.9) jumped out towards the outside and in trying to correct his mount, the gelding shifted in sharply and went on to HUNTING PLEASURE (Mansoor Khan) who went on to LAST CHANCE (Y.S.Srinath) who made contact with ON THE QUEST (Fr’co F.DaSilva).

 

Approaching 1000 metres, MELINDA (C.S.Jodha) shifted in and inconvenienced HUNTING PLEASURE (Mansoor Khan).

 

Passing 1000 metres, MELINDA (C.S.Jodha) shifted in and went on to LAST CHANCE (Y.S.Srinath) who went on to LAURITA (S.John).

 

Near 700 metres, ON THE QUEST (Fr’co F.DaSilva) leaned in and went on to LAURITA (S.John) who in turn inconvenienced IRIDESCENCE (B.Sreekanth).

 

In the concluding stages of the race, LADYBIRD (R.Hughes) was denied a clear run.

 

LADY BIRD (R.Hughes) was placed fifth and SHIVALIKS GLORY (A.Sandesh) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.

 

RACE NO.8(184) – THE  McDOWELL SIGNATURE INDIAN DERBY (GR.1): (About) 2400 Metres – Runners – 15

 

Trainer Irfan Ghatala has been fined Rs. 3000/- for putting in late Declaration in respect of his charge ACE BUCEPHALUS.

 

After the race, MURIOI was observed to have lost its left hind plate. STARRY EYES was examined on 03/02/2014 and found to be sound.

 

AMAZING GRACE (P.Trevor) was placed fifth and AGOSTINI (Beuzelin Louis) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.

 

RACE NO.9(185)–THE  ROYAL CHALLENGE ‘GAME FOR LIFE’ CUP(DIV.I):(About) 1200 Metres– Runners – 15

 

At the start, STAR ZONE (Dashrath Singh, dr.2) jumped awkwardly outwards and at the same time RAJASTHAN GLORY (F.Irani, dr.5) jumped awkwardly inwards, due to which GOOD MEMORY (S.Mosin, dr.3) and SPARKLING GEM (V.Chandrakant, dr.4) were tightened.

  

Soon after the start, BELLA FIGURA (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in before the Red Marker and carried DARK WILLIAM (A.Sandesh) and MT TIANMEN (Kavraj Singh) inwards. Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been Rs.3,000/-

 

Near 900 metres, NEPTUNE’S OCEAN (S.G.Prasad) shifted in and carried BELLA FIGURA (Neeraj Rawal) inwards, who went across STAR ZONE (Dashrath Singh). Jockey S.G.Prasad has been cautioned.

 

Near 900 metres, WILD WAVES (P.Trevor) shifted ground inwards, due to which DARK WILLIAM (A.Sandesh) was tightened on to STAR ZONE (Dashrath Singh) and in the process DARK WILLIAM lost position. Jockey P.Trevor has been cautioned.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the comparative performance of WILD WAVES and a report will be submitted shortly.

After the race, STAR ZONE and MAHIMA were found to be sore by the right fore leg. Both the horses have to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, SPARKLING GEM, BELLA FIGURA, MOUNTAIN TREASURE and BACKSTREET BAY (examined for soundness on 03/02/2014), were found to be sound.

HIDDEN ASSET, SPEED KING, SUPREME STAR, SHEER CLASS, MERCHANTOFVENICE and ALAINDAIR, as also that of DEJA VU & STORM TRACKER (4th race), LAST CHANCE & QASAR (7th race) and STARRY EYES, CIRCLE OF LIFE & MURIOI (8th race), and the special sample of STRATEGIC MOVE(2nd race), EMERGING STAR (3rd race), ROMANTIC BEAUTY (6th race), SHIVALIKS GLORY (7th race), ARCHIE (8th race) and BACKSTREET BAY (9th race),  were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
