RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 5 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 7 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 9 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 11 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES RUN AT THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 7 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.
On a request from Trainer Nosher Cama, permission was granted to Trainer Nirad Karanjawala to saddle his charge STEPPEHWOLF in the 6th race, at his own (Trainer Nosher Cama’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(122) –THE KINGFISHER MAX MILE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 11
At the request of Jockeys S Zervan and T S Jodha the saddle on their mounts ROMANESQUE and TIANJIN HONEY were adjusted.
HULK SMASH (Shrikant Kamble) jumped out slow losing about 5 lengths at the start. Trainer Deepesh Narredu has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
At the stat, POWER OF THOR (C.Umesh, dr.4) jumped inwards on to CUPIDO (Imran Chisty, dr.3), who in turn shifted in on to MASTER OF STUDIES (App.K.Nazil, dr.2).
At the start, REDS REVENGE (P. S. Chouhan, dr.9) jumped inwards and went across ROGUE ONE (Dashrath Singh, dr.8) who was marginally slow to begin.
Passing 150 metres, ROMANESQUE (S. Zervan) shifted out and made contact with REDS REVENGE (P.S.Chouhan) forcing it outwards on to CUPIDO (Imran Chisty). Jockey S. Zervan has been fined Rs.2,000/-.
Approaching 300 metres, TIANJIN HONEY (T.S.Jodha) was observed to have leaned outwards and had to be steadied. After the race Jockey T.S.Jodha reported that his mount was running green and was erratic. Trainer Nirad Karanjawala has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
RACE NO.2(123) – THE THUMBELINA MILLION: (About) 2400 Metres – Runners - 8
Passing 350 metres, MOMENTUM (Akshay) shifted in and went across ROSPOMARE (Amyn Merchant) forcing the latter to be checked. After questioning, Jockey Akshay has been fined Rs.2,000/-.
After the race, BRAZOS was observed to have a cut injury at the right nostril and a gum injury. GNOSTIC EYES was found to be sound in the trot.
RACE NO.3(124) – THE ESSENZA DI WILLS CUP: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 7
The Sr.V.O. reported that SNOWDON ran with bandages on both fore legs without prior permission being obtained for the same. Trainer S.Padmanabhan has been fined Rs.1,000/- for his lapse.
Soon after the start, SNOWDON (David Allan, dr.2) shifted out and made contact with TRULY EPIC (A. Sandesh, dr.3).
Approaching 1100 metres, ARC SHINE (App. K. Nazil) shifted out and made contact with KINGSMAN (P. Trevor) forcing it outwards. App.K. Naziil has been cautioned.
From the 350 metres, KINGSMAN (P.Trevor) was observed to have maintained an erratic course thereby inconveniencing ARC SHINE (App. K. Nazil) on more than one occasion. On questioning, Jockey P. Trevor stated that his mount hung in and in his effort to maintain a straight course, he had been erratic. Trainer Deepesh Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
ABERLOUR (S. A. Amit) was observed to have raced on the middle of the course. On questioning, Jockey S. A. Amit stated that his mount was inclined outwards despite his efforts. Trainer Altamaash A. Ahmed has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
After the race, KINGSMAN was trotted and found to be sound. The gelding had a cut injury at the left hind fetlock.
RACE NO.4(125) – THE DR.M.A.M.RAMASWAMY JUVENILE SPRINT: (About) 1000 Metres –Runners- 13
At the start, BLAZING BAY (A. Imran Khan, dr.9) jumped outwards and at the same time ATHULYA (S. Zervan, dr.11) jumped inwards thereby tightening SUPREME BEING (P. S. Chouhan, dr.10).
At the start, ENID BLYTON (Y. S. Srinath, dr.4) jumped outwards and made contact with STORM BREAKER (Suraj Narredu, dr.5). Thereafter, STORM BREAKER shifted in and went across ENID BLYTON on to PERFECT SHINING (Bhawani Singh, dr.3) forcing it inwards, thereby tightening CRACK OF DAWN (David Allan, dr.2) and then dropped back inconveniencing ENID BLYTON.
Soon after the start, CELESTIA (J. Chinoy) shifted out under urgings and at the same time ATHULYA (S.Zervan) shifted in, due to which BLAZING BAY (A. Imran Khan) was tightened for room and had to be checked. After questioning all concerned, Jockey J.Chinoy has been fined Rs.2,000/-.
From the 400 metres onwards, STORM BREAKER (Suraj Narredu) was inclined outwards and carried OUI SAUVAGE (A. Sandesh) outwards. After the race, Jockey Suraj Narredu reported that his mount hung out despite his efforts. Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.
After the race, GOD’S DECREE was observed to have a cut injury at both the hind coronet. STORM BREAKER was found to be sound in the trot.
RACE NO.5(126) – THE EBCO LIVSMART MILLION: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners- 8
After being stalled, ANGELS TOUCH (A.Imran Khan) got restless in the gate. The mare was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. who certified her fit to race.
At the start, BRAINSTORM (Y. S. Srinath, dr.7) jumped inwards on to LA RONDINE (Leigh Roche, dr.6) who was marginally slow to begin.
After the race, ANGELS TOUCH and PURE ZINC were trotted and found to be sound. ANGELS TOUCH had a cut injury at the left fore arm.
RACE NO.6(127) – THE AMAZING MAURITIUS CUP: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 11
Passing 1000 metres, STEPPENWOLF (P.S.Chouhan) leaned inwards on to DANCE THE DREEM (Robbie Downey), who in turn shifted in thereby inconveniencing RUN FOREST RUN (Y.S.Srinath). Jockey P.S.Chouhan has been cautioned.
Passing 650 metres, RUN FOREST RUN (Y.S.Srinath) shifted out and at the same time MOUNT OLYMPUS (C.Umesh) shifted in thereby bumping and tightening EXCELLENT SORRENTO (Suraj Narredu) forcing him to be checked. After questioning all concerned, Jockey Y.S.Srinath has been fined Rs.5,000/- and Jockey C.Umesh has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
An objection was lodged by Jockey Leigh Roche, the rider of NIGHT HUNT (Placed Fifth) against RED CARNATION (S.A.Amit, Placed Third). The reason being, in the last half furlong, RED CARNATION shifted out whereby he had to check his mount severely or else he would have finished third.
After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgement, the Stewards decided to over-rule the objection.
In the above connection, the Stewards directed the Stipendiary Stewards to initiate action against Jockey S.A.Amit for careless riding on his mount RED CARNATION. Accordingly, the Stipendiary Stewards decided to fine Jockey S.A.Amit a sum of Rs.5,000/- for careless riding on his mount. In that, passing the 200 metres RUN FOREST RUN (Y.S.Srinath) leaned inwards due to which NIGHT HUNT (Leigh Roche) shied in and at the same time RED CARNATION (S.A.Amit) shifted out due to which NIGHT HUNT was hampered and had to be steadied.
RACE NO.7(128) – THE KINGFISHER ULTRA SUNDOWNER MILLION: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 14
At the start, BOMBSHELL (App.N.B.Kuldeep, dr.14) was observed to have jumped out slow and thereafter whipped around and trailed the field. Since the gelding had behaved in a similar manner in the past, Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi has been asked to take remedial measures and show the gelding in two Mock Races to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards before next accepting to race.
At the start, BOHEMIAN (App.N.Nadeem, dr.8) jumped inwards on to SHE IS A SPY (Dashrath Singh, dr.7).
At the start, KIPLING (App.K.Nazil, dr.4) jumped outwards on to SERENARA (App.R.Ajinkya, dr.5).
Soon after the start, ANNIVERSARY GIRL (C.Umesh, dr3) shifted out and went across KIPLING (App.K.Nazil, dr.4) and bumped SERENARA (App.R.Ajinkya, dr.5) and at the same time, BOHEMIAN (App.N.Nadeem, dr.dr 8) shifted in thereby forcing SHE IS A Spy (Dashrath Singh, dr.7) inwards, due to which ANTARTICA (S.A.Amit, dr 6), SERENARA (App.R.Ajinkya dr.5) and KIPLING (App.K.Nazil dr.4) were tightened and had to be checked. On being questioned after the race, App.N Nadeem (BOHEMIAN) said that his mount had jumped inwards brushing the gates due to which his left stirrup broke. Jockey C.Umesh (ANNIVERSARY GIRL) stated that his mount shifted out in the first couple of strides and he was unable to avert the incident. After viewing the race, Jockey C.Umesh has been cautioned.
Passing 900 metres OUTSTANDING (Bhawani Singh) shifted in thereby tightening BOHEMIAN (App.N.Nadeem) who had to be checked. Jockey Bhawani Singh has been cautioned.
Passing 300 metres, Jockey S.A.Amit (ANTARTICA) was observed to have lost his reins which he regained immediately. Thereafter, passing 150 metres, App.S.A.Amit was observed to have persisted with the use of whip from the right despite his mount shifting out. After questioning, Jockey S.A.Amit has been fined Rs.2,000/- for failing to change his whip hand.
After the race, AME was observed to have a cut injury at the right nostril and a gum injury. BOMBSHELL and ABRAXAS were found to be sound in the trot. BOMBSHELL had a gum injury .

The urine samples of the winner of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th race, viz. GOLD MEDALIST, MOMENTUM, FLYING VISIT, QUI SAUVAGE, TURNING POINT, EL COMANDANTE and TASCH, were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

The Board of Appeal at their meeting held on Monday, 21st January 2019 interviewed Trainer Shazaan Shah in the above connection.
The Board of Appeal considered all documents and papers that were submitted including Trainer Shazaan Shah’s reply to the show cause and heard the submissions made by him. The Board of Appeal deliberated on the matter at length and since he had tendered his apology, the Board decided that no further action was called for in the matter. Accordingly, the punishment imposed by the Stewards of the Club, i.e. suspension of his Trainer’s licence up to and inclusive of 10th March 2019, stands.

The Board of Appeal at their meeting held on Monday, 21st January 2019, considered Appeal dated 15th January 2019, from Mr.Mansoor Shah.
The Board of Appeal considered all documents and papers that were submitted including Mr.Mansoor Shah’s grounds of appeal and also heard the submissions made by him, including the fact that he admitted his mistake / negligence. The Board of Appeal deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds to the same, concurred with the findings of the Stewards of the Club. The Board of Appeal therefore decided to reject his appeal and forfeit the deposit. Accordingly, the decision of the Stewards of the Club stands.
