RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 8 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1200 METRES, 10 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 12 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 13 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 5 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 10 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

RACE NO.1(111) – THE PREMIER CLASSE PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 8

VICTORIOUS CAUSE (Neeraj Rawal) was restless in the stall and not allowing the rider to settle. Trainer Ivor Fernandes has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

At the start, RISING ANGEL (App.Sandeep Jadhav, dr.5) leaned inwards and went on to RIO DEL RAY (Amyn Merchant, dr.4).

App.B.Nikhil (TO THE MOON) fumbled with his whip and rein in the concluding stages of the race.

Jockey Kavraj Singh (JAIPUR GEM) was observed to have dropped his hands well before passing the winning post thereby losing second place. After enquiring into the matter, Jockey Kavraj Singh has been suspended for 18^th January 2014.

Tr.H.J.Antia was questioned regarding the comparative performance of his charge GOLDEN SPURS in this race which the gelding won as compared to its earlier run in Race no 77 run on 19^th December 2013. The Trainer stated that the horse ran in 5-year old & over race today as compared to an open company on the previous occasion. He added that today he claimed 5 kg allowance and that there was no common horse to compare the performance with. He further added that the field was poor today with horses having finished 7 to 8 lengths behind the winners. It was noted that the running pattern of the gelding was similar to its previous races. Whilst noting the explanation tendered of the Trainer, he has been cautioned for running his charge within a short span of time i.e. within a gap of 14 days.

Apprentice S.G.Prasad (GOLDEN SPURS) has been cautioned for raising his hand as a sign of victory before passing the post.

After the race, JAIPUR GEM and ANCIENT ODYESSY were found to be sound.

RACE NO.2(112) –THE PREMIER CLASSE PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres –Runners - 9

Near 700 metres, LUCKY RED (App.B.Nikhil) was tightened as ALWAYS SMILE (S.P.Ranjane) shifted in due to BETHLEHEM (App.Sandeep Jadhav) shifting in at that stage. App.Sandeep Jadhav has been cautioned.

BALINGA (Satish Nayak) drifted out for a brief period while negotiating the bend.

Jockey Akshay (SILVERVILLE) reported the loss of whip near the winning post.

After the race, BALINGA was observed to have a cut injury at the right fore pastern. LUCKY RED, BETHLEHEM, FOLLOW ME, ICE ICE BABY and ALWAYS SMILE were found to be sound.

RACE NO.3(113) – THE CONGRATULATIONS PLATE: (About) 2400 Metres – Runners – 9

At the start, HOT PEPPER (Zameer Sayyed, dr.3) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to REYNOLDS (S.Zervan, dr.4).

In the final 200 metres, SKY LANTERN (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out under the use of the whip and carried SWORD OF HONOUR (Kavraj Singh) outwards, who in turn caused SAVAGE GARDEN (C.S.Jodha) to travel wide due to which DEMONIC (Fr’co F.DaSilva) travelled further wide. Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been cautioned.

After the race, SAVAGE GARDEN, DEMONIC and SKY LANTERN were found to be sound.

RACE NO.4(114) – THE T.M.GOCULDAS PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 8

Tr. H.J.Antia has been fined Rs.1,000/- for bringing his charge SEA TREASURE into the Parade Ring without the Tongue Strap, an equipment for the use of which prior permission was obtained. The gelding left the Parade Ring with a Tongue Strap.

After the race, VICTORIOUS MARCH was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind coronet. SEA TREASURE and PITBULL were found to be sound.

RACE NO.5(115) – THE SWEEPING SUCCESS TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 7

In the final 100 metres, ANCIENT WARRIOR (N.S.Parmar) lugged-in and tightened QUEEN’S CAMP (Shrikant Kamble). Trainer M Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

Trainer Altaf Hussain has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using a normal snaffle instead of a chifney bit on his mount QUEEN’S CAMP.

Jockey S.Zervan (PROTECTOR OF PARIS) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for improper use of the whip wherein he has used the whip in a forehand position on the shoulder of his mount.

At the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, a Stewards Enquiry was held in this race. The reason being, at about 250 metres PROTECTOR OF PARIS (S.Zervan, Placed Third) shifted in and squeezed BELMONT (J.Fortune) who was racing between HAY DAY (C.S.Jodha) on the inside and PROTECTOR OF PARIS on the outside. In the process, both HAY DAY and BELMONT were unbalanced and the Jockeys had to ease up their mounts due to the crowding and tightening.

After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to maintain the order of placing as declared by the Judge.

The Stewards after the last race interviewed Jockey S.Zervan for careless riding on his mount PROTECTOR OF PARIS and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 18^th January, 2014 to 23^rd January, 2014 (both days inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race).

RACE NO.6(116) – THE EDGAR DeSYLVA TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 11

After the race, JEWELS OF THE HILL, AWESOME SMILE and MOUNTAIN SONG were found to be sound.

RACE NO.7(117) – THE FLORINA PLATE: (About) 1800 Metres – Runners – 11

SALSA (Zameer Sayyed) jumped out slow, losing about 6 lengths at the start. Since the filly had behaved in a similar manner previously, Trainer D.J.Surti has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

Approaching 1400 metres, HOT AS ICE (Ataf Sayyed) hung-out and travelled wide and joined the field near 1200 metres. Trainer Himmat Singh has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

Jockey Shrikant Kamble (SCALANAYA) has been fined Rs 3,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

The Sr.V.O. reported that STAR OF PEACE was examined after the race and found to be sound. Subsequently, the next morning Trainer S.S.Shah reported that the filly was sore by left fore with swelling on fetlock joint of left fore. The filly was examined at the stables at 3.55 p.m. on 3/01/2014 and found to be sore by left fore with painful swelling on the left fore fetlock and tendon. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

The Club’s Chief Veterinary Officer reported that at the request of Trainer S.S.Shah, STAR OF PEACE was scoped at the Equine Hospital after the race and diagnosed with Grade II (EIPH).

The Club’s Chief Veterinary Officer reported that at the request of Trainer Imtaiz A.Sait, SHISHYA was scoped at the Equine Hospital after the race and diagnosed with severe Guttural Pouch Infection.

After the race, MINSTREL SON, and HEAVENS KEY were found to be sound.

RACE NO.8(118) – THE THUNDER BIRD PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 10

ARABIAN LORD (Shrikant Kamble) stood awkwardly in the stall and was not allowing the rider to settle. Trainer Altaf Hussain has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

Near 200 metres, GOOD MEMORY (Akash Agarwal) was tightened and steadied as GRAND MARCH (Prabhu Naidu) shifted in. Jockey Prabhu Naidu has been cautioned.

App.B.Nikhil (MAGIC STAR) has been cautioned for raising his hand as a sign of victory before passing the post.

Jockey Akshay (EMERALD FORTUNE) reported loss of his whip near 300 metres. This being the second occasion of loss of whip during the current Mumbai Meeting, he has been fined Rs.1,000/-.

The saddle on HOLIDAY DANCER (Amyn Merchant) was observed to have slipped sideways during the race. As such Trainer Adil Dajee has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

After the race, ROMANTIC BEAUTY was found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd and 5^th race viz., GOLDEN SPURS, STRIKING SHADOW, REYNOLDS and DOMINGO and the special sample of PROTECTOR OF PARIS & BELMONT (5^th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : RADIOGRAPHIC FINDING IN RESPECT OF b i g “KHAIRIAN: WHO RAN IN RACE NO.64 – THE AU PANACHE PLATE ON 12^TH DECEMBER, 2013 :

The Club’s Chief Veterinary Officer reported that post Race No.64, KHAIRIAN sustained race time injury and was brought to the Equine Hospital for further care and nursing.

Radiographic finding revealed “Avulsion fracture at mid shaft of right humerus also associated with non displaced fracture of intermediate tubercle”.
