RACE DAY REPORTS
NO FALSE RAILS
RACE NO 1 (32) - THE GOODNESS GRACIOUS PLATE (DIV.II) : (About) 1200 Metres. Runners - 10
SIOOUX CHIEF (App.M.A.Roushan) took an awkward fly jump losing about 2 lengths at the start. ARABIAN EMPIRE (Zameer Sayyed) also jumped out awkwardly. Trainers Faisal A.Abbas and Vijay Kasbekar have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and to show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
FESTIVE LIGHT (Shrikant Kamble) was slow in the strides, losing about 2 lengths at the start.
Jockey Zameer Sayyed (ARABIAN EMPIRE) reported that at the start, his mount threw its head up and tried to drift outwards causing MARINE ZONE (S.S.Rathore) to travel wider. Trainer Vijay Kasbekar has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
ITSPIRITOFRACING (V.Chandrakant) and SUPER KING (Ladjadj Stephane) lugged-in in the straight. Trainers Anil Kumar and Narendra Lagad have been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race their respective charge.
Trainer Anil Kumar and Jockey V.Chandrakant were questioned regarding the running and riding of ITSPIRITOFRACING. The Jockey was instructed to ride his own race. The Jockey stated that his mount hung in during the race and he had difficulty in keeping the gelding balanced. It was put to the Jockey that he should have been vigorous in his riding effort in the straight considering that he had lost the 3rd Place by a Short-head. Since the gelding had returned sore after the race, no action has been taken against the Jockey beyond cautioning him for lack of riding effort on his mount.
Jockey Ladjadj Stephane (SUPER KING) has been advised to continue making an effort till past the Post.
After the race, SCENIC SILVER was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, SUPER KING was found to be sore by the right fore leg and ITSPIRITOFRACING was found to be sore by the left fore leg. Both the horses have to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
RACE NO 2 (33) - THE AIR DASH PLATE : (About) 2000 Metres. Runners – 4
After the race, CAMBIASSO was found to be sound
RACE NO 3 (34) – THE POTENTIAL CHAMPION TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres. Runners - 6
SWISS BELLE (S.N.Chavan) ducked the front gates and in the process damaged the same, leaving them unserviceable. As such, SWISS BELLE was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and to show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
ELIZABETH (J Chinoy) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer P.Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
After the race, ELIZABETH & SWISS BELLE were found to be sound
RACE NO 4 (35) – THE AUGUST HANDICAP : (About) 1400 Metres. Runners - 8
At the start, LAST TANGO (V.Chandrakant) jumped out awkwardly towards the outside and went on SUPREME FORCE (A.Imran Khan).
AMOURESQUE (P.Kamlesh) was held up for a few strides near 400 metres while racing on the inside of ZAFAYONA (Suraj Narredu).
Jockey P.Kamlesh (AMOURESQUE) has been fined Rs.1000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.
RACE NO 5 (36) – THE GREAT STRIDES PLATE : (About) 1800 Metres. Runners - 8
LITTLE TONY (S.Sunil) planted and lost a distance at the start. Since the gelding had behaved in a similar manner in its previous outing, Trainer Anil Kumar has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter in a Mock Race, before next accepting to race.
On questioning, App Kavraj Singh (LIGHTNING CAVALRY) stated that he was asked to make his move from 800 metres and be in a forward position, however, there was a wall of horses in front of him at that stage, and therefore he had no option but to make his move from the outside and ride as instructed. The explanation was noted. However, he was asked ride more judiciously in the future.
Jockey N.S.Parmar (SOL) reported that his mount hung-out during the race. Trainer S.S.Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.
After the race, SATSUMA STAR and SOL were found to be sound
RACE NO 6 (37) - THE HURRICANE PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres. Runners - 12
RIVER KNIGHT (App.P.Trevor) planted and thereafter whipped around and took no practical part in the race. The gelding did not complete the race. Trainer S.K.Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter in a Mock Race, before next accepting to race.
At the start, BELLIGERANT (D.K.Ashish) and SWEPT AWAY (D.A.Naik) were tightened for room.
Near 400 metres, SWEPT AWAY (D.A.Naik) clipped the hind heels of TAKESTWOTOTANGO (Neeraj Rawal) and stumbled.
Near 200 metres, SWEPT AWAY (D.A.Naik) was inconvenienced as SUN ELEGANCE (Suraj Narredu) shifted out. Jockey Suraj Narredu has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
Jockey Neeraj Rawal (TAKESTWOTOTANGO) reported that he had lost his right stirrup after travelling some distance from the start and in his effort to regain his balance, the saddle slipped sideways and he could not ride out his mount.
Jockey Khalander (ABSOLUTE REALITY) has been reprimanded for losing his position after travelling some distance from the start.
At the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, a Stewards Enquiry was held in this race. The reason being, near 1000 metres Jockey Neeraj Rawal (TAKESTWOTOTANGO) whose saddle had slipped, shifted out. Soon thereafter, Jockey Ladjadj Stephane (TEQUILA, placed first), was observed to have pushed Jockey Neeraj Rawal forcefully with his right hand. After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to disqualify TEQUILA (placed first) for foul riding and to revise the order of placing of the race as under :-
CLOUD COVER - FIRST; DIVINE - THIRD;
BELLIGERENT - SECOND; RED DRAGON - FOURTH
In the above connection, Jockey Ladjadj Stephane has been asked to meet the Stewards next week for foul riding.
An enquiry has been initiated in to the running and riding of SUN ELEGANCE and a report will be submitted shortly.
After the race, DIVINE was observed to have a clip injury on the left hind fetlock and coronet and SUN ELEGANCE was found to be sound.
RACE NO 7 (38) – THE McDOWELL SIGNATURE TURF CLUB TROPHY (GRADE 3) : (About) 1400 Metres. Runners – 15
After being stalled, RUNNING BULL (C.S.Jodha) played up in the stall whereby his right hind leg got stuck between the bars in the frame work. The gelding, in trying to take his leg out, broke its hind canon bone above the fetlock and was withdrawn from the race on veterinary grounds, before coming under the Starter/s Order. The gelding was taken out and euthanized on humane grounds.
Due to the above incident, there was a delay in the start of this race.
Near 400 FOREST FLAIR (A.Imran Khan) was tightened while racing between CABRIOLET (B.Prakash) and D’ARTAGNAN (Ladjadj Stephane).
Near 200 metres, ASTRAL FLASH (N.S.Parmar) shied away and shifted out and went on to IKARIA (S. Zervan) who in turn went on to SEA STAR (Imran Chisty) who was checked.
D’ARTAGNAN (Ladjadj Stephane) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer S Padmanabhan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
After the race, FOREST FLAIR & D’ARTAGNAN were found to be sound
RACE NO 8 (39) - THE GOODNESS GRACIOUS PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres. Runners - 11
Trainer Dr Anil Kumar has been fined Rs1000/ for bringing his charge, ITSRACINGAFTERALL, with a Tongue Strap, an equipment the use of which no prior permission was obtained. The Tongue Strap was removed before the horse left the paddock.
Approaching 600 metres, APPALINA (Ladjadj Stephane) shifted in and went across CHOTEE BEGUM (M.Narredu). Jockey Ladjadj Stephane has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
Trainer C.D.Katrak has been fined Rs.1000/- for running his charge CHOTEE BEGUM in a Rubber Bit, for the use of which no prior permission was obtained.
Trainer Narendra Lagad and Jockey Ladjadj Stephane were questioned with regard to the poor performance of APPALINA who was a winner in its previous run. The Jockey was instructed to ride his own race. The Trainer opined that the horse ran within a week which could have had a bearing on the performance. Also, this time the field was better as compared to last time. The explanation was noted. However, his attention was drawn to the Calendar Notification regarding in and out running of horses and he was asked to be more careful in the future.
After the race, CLASSIC RULER was found to be sore by the left hind. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, APPALINA was found to be sound.
RACE NO 9 (40) – THE KIA ORA PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres. Runners - 10
After being stalled, BRILLIANT MOON (D.A.Naik) started lashing out due to which MAGICAL MANTRA (C.S.Jodha) who was in the adjoining stall, reared up and slipped in the stall. Both the horses were taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. who certified them fit to race. Trainer Mansoor Shah has been asked to give his charge BRILLIANT MOON more gate practice and to show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Near 1400 metres, NOU CAMP (Ishwar Pardeshi) shifted out and tightened ACCURIZE (F.Irani) who in turn hampered the running of SING ALONG (S.Zervan). Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
Near 200 metres, HOUDINI (App.M.A.Roushan) lugged out and hampered the running of MACHO UNO (App.P.Trevor). Trainer Faisal A Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding. Nevertheless App.M.A.Roushan has been asked to exercise better control over his mounts in the future.
The saddle on MACHO UNO (App.P.Trevor) was observed to have slipped back during the race, as such, Trainer Anil Kumar has been fined Rs. 2000/- for faulty saddling of his charge
The Sr.V.O. reported that after completing the race, ACCURIZE collapsed on the track and died.
After the race, SING ALONG & HOUDINI were found to be sound.
The urine sample of winner of 3rd, 6th, 7th and 9th race viz. KHURSANIYAH, CLOUD COVER, ARTS and MIA STELLA as also that of SPIRITUALL & PORTRUSH (7th race) and the special sample of SCENIC SILVER (1st race), CAMBIASSO (2nd race), SUN ELEGANCE (6th race) and APPALINA (8th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

GENERAL - MOCK RACE HELD AFTER THE RACES ON 01/08/2010:
The Sr.V.O. reported that CAROUSEL, who was entered for the above mock race, after being stalled in the Starting gate, the filly started kicking from the hind limbs. The filly was unloaded and examined and found to be sore from the left hind and hence was withdrawn from the above mock race. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before accepting to race.
