RAILS WERE PLACED 4 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 6 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 8 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 10 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 12 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED 4 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 8 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

RACE NO.1(196) – THE PRICELESS PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners – 8

UNCLE SCROOGE (Neeraj Rawal) jumped out and thereafter did not raise an effective gallop thus losing about 4 lengths at the start. On being questioned after the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal reported that his mount had tried to stop galloping and had to be niggled to carry on. As such, Trainer M. K. Jadhav has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

Passing 700 metres, Jockey C. S. Jodha (RELENTLESS PURSUIT) was observed to have forced a passage between CAESARS STAR (App. Parbat Singh) and GLORIOUS OPINION (Santosh G.), in the process inconveniencing GLORIOUS OPINION (Santosh G.). Jockey C. S. Jodha has been cautioned.

Passing 250 metres, EIGER’S TIGER (Dashrath Singh) shifted out and at the same time ELEGANT BEAUTY (J. Chinoy) shifted in, due to which SABIQ (A. Sandesh) who was racing on their haunches, had to be checked and changed course.

Jockey Santosh G. (GLORIOUS OPINION) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit. This being his first offence, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

After the race, RELENTLESS PURSUIT was trotted and found to be sound. SABIQ had a gum injury.

RACE NO.2(197) – THE HONG KONG JOCKEY CLUB TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 8

At the start, GANDALF (Amyn Merchant, dr. 4) jumped outwards on to POETRYINMOTION (C. S. Jodha, dr. 5).

Passing 200 metres, PATHAN (M. A. Roushan) was observed to have drifted out and had to be steadied.

At the Winning Post, MANIFOLD (Neeraj Rawal) was observed to have veered out and had to be steadied. Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures

After the race, Jockey A. Sandesh (MYGRATOR) reported that his mount hung in throughout the race.

After the race, Jockey Amyn Merchant (GANDALF) reported that his mount hung out in the straight.

After the race, MYGRATOR was trotted and found to be sound.

RACE NO.3(198) – THE F.K.VAKIL TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 10

Trainer Zadmal Singh has been fined Rs.2,000/- for an error in the Starting Declarations with respect to the shoes worn by his charge ALLEGRIA, wherein the filly was declared to have Aluminum, left fore outer wedge heel but on examination was found to have both hind high heels in addition to what was declared.

Soon after the start, RIDGEWOOD STAR (App. Vishal N. Bunde, dr.2) shifted out and carried RAIN DANCE (App. Parbat Singh) and BAY OF LOVE (App. N. Nadeem) outwards, due to which RAIN DANCE had to be checked. App. Vishal N. Bunde has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

Passing 1000 metres, RAIN DANCE (App. Parbat Singh) shifted in and at the same time AEOLUS MAXIMUS (Dashrath Singh) shifted out thereby tightening NEW ENGLAND (C. S. Jodha) who was racing between them. App. Parbat Singh and Jockey Dashrath Singh have been cautioned.

Passing 1000 metres, BAY OF LOVE (App. N. Nadeem) shifted in and bumped RIDGEWOOD STAR (App. Vishal N. Bunde). After questioning App. N. Nadeem and not being satisfied with his explanation, his Apprentice Jockey’s license was suspended for one race day i.e. 16^th March, 2017 for careless riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of LOGIC and a report will be submitted shortly.

After the race, RAIN DANCE was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind bulb of heel. CENTAURUS, AEOLUS MAXIMUS, LOGIC, BAY OF LOVE, ALLEGRIA and RIDGEWOOD STAR were found to be sound in trot.

RACE NO.4(199) – THE NARAYANDAS J.DAVE PLATE: (About) 1600 Mtrs – Runners - 13

FIRENZE (Santosh G.) was reluctant to reach the starting point. Trainer Sanjay Kolse has been asked to take remedial before next accepting to race the filly.

FROSTED (App. Raghuveer Singh) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

At the start, MASTER SERGEANT (Amyn Merchant, dr. 9) jumped outwards on to SHEER BELIEF (App. K. Nazil, dr.10), who in turn shifted out on to STAR ACE (S. J. Sunil, dr.11).

Soon after the start, MASTER SERGEANT (Amyn Merchant) shifted out and carried TORREZZO (Akshay Gaikwad) outwards.

Approaching 1400 metres, MASTER SERGEANT (Amyn Merchant) was observed to have lost its footings and stumbled.

Passing 1200 metres, SHEER BELIEF (App. K. Nazil) shifted in on to STAR ACE (S. J. Sunil), who in turn shifted in thereby tightening FIRENZE (Santosh G.) along the rails forcing Jockey Santosh G. to check his mount and drop back. Apprentice K. Nazil has been cautioned.

Passing the 100 metres, MASTER SERGEANT (Amyn Merchant) was observed to have shifted out forcing FROSTED (App. Raghuveer Singh) to be checked. After the race, Jockey Amyn Merchant (MASTER SERGEANT) reported that his mount was running erratic in the straight. In view of the above, Trainer Vinesh has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

An enquiry has been initiated into the riding of FIRENZE and a report will be submitted shortly.

After the race, TORREZZO was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, STAR ACE was observed to have an abrasion at the right hind pastern. TORREZZO, FIRENZE, SHEER BELIEF and SECRET FLAME were found to be sound in trot.

RACE NO.5(200)–THE HAUNTING MEMORIES PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 8

Soon after the start, PHOENIX KNIGHT (S. J. Sunil, dr.4) shifted in despite the Jockey’s efforts thereby bumping VICTORIO (App. Raghuveer Singh, dr.3), who in turn shifted in and tightened WIND CRAFT (Akshay Gaikwad, dr.2) and WONDER STORY (Santosh G., dr.1.) forcing the latter to be checked. Since PHOENIX KNIGHT had behaved in a similar manner in the past, Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a Mock Race, before next accepting with him to race.

Passing 800 metres, FREE SPEECH (G. Amit) shifted in and took the ground of DANCING PRINCE (Neeraj Rawal) due to which Jockey Neeraj Rawal had to check his mount and shift out. After questioning Jockey G. Amit and not being satisfied with his explanation, his Jockey’s license was suspended for one race day i.e. on 16^th March, 2017 (permitted to ride work/mock race).

An enquiry has been initiated into the riding of FREE SPEECH and a report will be submitted shortly.

After the race, VICTORIO was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, WIND CRAFT was observed to have a gum injury.

RACE NO.6(201) – THE F.K.VAKIL TROPHY (DIV.I):(About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 11

In the process of stalling, the bridle on SENSEX (A. Sandesh) came off and the same was fixed.

At the start, POLLYANA (Akshay Gaikwad, dr. 8) jumped outwards on to ROYAL CLASSIC (App. S. A. Amit, dr.9), who in turn shifted out inconveniencing CLASSICUS (Dashrath Singh, dr.10).

Approaching 1000 metres, FURIOUS N’ FAST (Amyn Merchant) shifted out on to SENSEX (A. Sandesh) who had to be steadied.

At the top of the straight, ALIEN (App. N. Nadeem) shifted out and carried JETAWAY (Neeraj Rawal) outwards. App. N. Nadeem has been cautioned.

After the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (JETAWAY) reported that his mount had shown signs of distress after the race.

After the race, Jockey Dashrath Singh (CLASSICUS) reported that his mount was inclined to run out in the straight and had to be steadied. Trainer Zadmal Singh has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

After the race, SENSEX was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, ARAK, SENSEX, JETAWAY and GLORIANA were trotted and found to be sound.

RACE NO.7(202) –THE K.J.K.IRANI PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 14

At the start, TARGETMASTER (S. Mosin, dr.1) jumped outwards on to STRIDES AHEAD (M. A. Roushan, dr.2).

At the start, GOLDSMITH (J. Chinoy, dr.5) jumped outwards on to TENNESSEE (S. J. Sunil, dr.6).

Soon after the start, SUPER BOLT (App. S. A. Amit) shifted in and made contact with WHAT A NICE GIRL (A. Sandesh) due to which the mare shifted in and went across PASS THE GLORY (J. E. Pereira) and thereafter inconvenienced ASAHI (App. Shahrukh Khan), GOLDSMITH (J. Chinoy) and TENNESSEE (S. J. Sunil). After questioning App. S. A. Amit and not being satisfied with his explanation, his Apprentice Jockey’s license has been suspended for one race day i.e on 16^th March, 2017 for careless riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).

Soon after the start, BLAVATSKY (Amyn Merchant) shifted in on to STRIDES AHEAD (M. A. Roushan) forcing him inwards on to TARGETMASTER (S. Mosin) who was tightened along the rails. After questioning Jockey Amyn Merchant and not being satisfied with his explanation, his Jockey’s license has been suspended for one race day i.e on 16^th March, 2017 for careless riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).

Approaching 100 metres, PASS THE GLORY (J. E. Pereira) shifted in awkwardly. On questioning, Jockey J. E. Pereira stated that his reins had slipped.

After the race, GOLDSMITH was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, WHAT A NICE GIRL was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind fetlock. ASAHI and TENNESSEE were found to be sound in trot.

RACE NO.8(203) –THE M.M.T.PANDOLE PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 12

At the start, ETERNAL LOVE (App. Vishal N. Bunde, dr.8) jumped outwards and at the same time LOCARNO (App. K. Nazil, dr.10) jumped inwards thereby tightening AME (S. Joseph, dr.9) who had to be checked.

At the start, ROYAL SAPPHIRE (Dashrath Singh, dr.6) jumped inwards on to MOTHERLAND (A. Sandesh, dr.5).

At the start, BIDSTONE HILL (Akshay Gaikwad, dr.3) jumped inwards on to ZABISCO (Amyn Merchant, dr.2) who had to be checked.

Approaching 800 metres, MOTHERLAND (A. Sandesh) shifted in thereby tightening BIDSTONE HILL (Akshay Gaikwad) and POETS SONG (Neeraj Rawal) forcing the latter to be checked. Jockey A. Sandesh has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

After the race, Jockey A. Sandesh (MOTHERLAND) reported that in the final stages of the race he was struck by the whip of App. S. A. Amit (MY BLESSINGS) as they were in close quarters due to which he had dropped his hands.

The urine samples of the winner of the 3^rd, 4^th, 6^th and 7^th race, viz. TROMBONE, BRAZOS, CLASSICUS and RARE SILVER, and the special sample of VICTORIO (5^th race) and SENSEX (6^th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : RACE NO.192 – THE POONAWALLA BREEDERS’ MULTI-MILLION (GR.1) – RUN ON 26^th FEBRUARY, 2017 :

Trainer P. Shroff has been fined Rs.2,000/- for an error in the starting declaration with respect to the shoes worn by his charge LINCOLN, wherein the colt was declared to have All Four Aluminum plates but on examination was found to have Polybonded Aluminum plates on both fore.

RE : APPEAL FROM TRAINER FAISAL A.ABBAS IN RESPECT OF SUSPENSION OF HIS TRAINER’S LICENSE W.E.F. 15^TH FEBRUARY, 2017 TO 16^TH APRIL, 2017 AND 29 DAYS FROM THE FIRST RACE DAY OF THE PUNE MEETING 2017 AND A FINE OF RS.50,000/ - ENQUIRY INTO THE POSITIVE REPORT IN RESPECT OF b g “CAPTAIN” (WINNER) IN RACE NO.74 – THE MARRINSKY PLATE (DIV.II) RUN ON SATURDAY, 27^TH AUGUST, 2016 – TRAINER FAISAL A.ABBAS WAS GRANTED A STAY ON THE PUNISHMENT UNTIL HIS APPEAL WAS HEARD :

The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on 27^th February 2017 considered Appeal dated 10^th February, 2017 from Trainer Faisal A. Abbas on the captioned subject matter.

The Board of Appeal studied all papers, documents, proceedings, grounds of appeal etc. in the captioned matter. The Board of Appeal also heard Trainer Faisal A. Abbas / his Spokesman, Dr. Prashant Wandhare and considered the submissions made by him/his spokesman. The Board of Appeal having deliberated the matter and having applied their minds to the same, held the view that there was no doubt about the vicarious liability on the part of the trainer and that he was careless in the stable management. However, majority of the members of the Board felt that there was some merit in the mitigating circumstances presented by the trainer and that the over all punishment was rather harsh. The Board of Appeal therefore decided, to partially allow the appeal and accordingly modified the punishment by reducing the period of suspension from 90 days to 45 days and increased the fine from Rs.50,000/- to Rs.1,00,000/-. His deposit was ordered to be refunded.

In view of the stay granted, Trainer Faisal A. Abbas’ punishment would now come into effect from 2^nd March, 2017 to 15^th April, 2017 (both days inclusive).

Further, Trainer Faisal A. Abbas was informed that all the disabilities, as communicated to him vide office letter dated 8^th February, 2017 would be applicable to him during the period of his suspension, as stated above.
