RACE NO.1(120) –THE DR.M.A.M.RAMASWAMY MULTI-MILLION: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 10 

 

ASHWA SHEHANSHAH (Y.S.Srinath) jumped out slow losing about 3 lengths at the start.

 

Approaching the 200 metres, TAIMUR (Colm O’Donoghue) shifted out on to GIANT STAR (Yash Narredu). Thereafter GIANT STAR shifted in and went across TAIMUR who had to be steadied.

 

In the final stages of the race, GIANT STAR (Yash Narredu) veered outwards and had to be steadied. On being questioned after the race, Jockey Yash Narredu stated that his mount had shied away from the whip. Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to show his charge in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ASHWA SHEHANSHAH was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The colt has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.2(121) – THE RUSI PATEL TROPHY (GR.3): (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 7

 

LORRAINE (C.S.Jodha) jumped out slow losing about 2 lengths at the start.

 

Jockey A. Sandesh (FLYING VISIT) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his second offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2019/20, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

 

RACE NO.3(122) – THE EBCO WORKSMART BREEDERS’ PRODUCE STAKES (GR.3) :

                                                                                                                               (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 9 

After the race, MONARCHOS was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(123) – THE S.M.SHAH ECLIPSE STAKES OF INDIA (GR.2): (About) 2000 Metres –Runners- 9 

 

Approaching the 300 metres, TASAWWUR (A. Sandesh) shifted in and at the same time SALAZAAR (Jockey Suraj Narredu) shifted out thereby tightening and taking the ground of ROBERTA (P. Trevor) who had to be checked. After questioning, both the Jockeys Suraj Narredu and A. Sandesh have been fined Rs.5,000/- each.

 

Approaching the 150 metres, SALAZAAR (Suraj Narredu) shifted in thereby bumping and tightening SACRED ROMAN (Leigh Roche) along the rails. On being questioned after the race, Jockey Suraj Narredu stated that his mount hung in despite his efforts.

 

After the race, SALAZAAR was found to be sore by the left fore leg. SALAZAAR has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, SACRED ROMAN and ROBERTA (examined on 03/02/2020) were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(124) – THE  B.K.RATTONSEY MEMORIAL MAIDEN MULTI-MILLION:

                                                                                                                               (About) 1200 Metres –Runners- 13 

 

At the request of Jockey Imran Chisty, his mount BIRKIN BLOWER was examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. on arrival at the starting gate and found to be sore by the left fore leg, as such the colt was certified unfit to race and withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. The colt has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

Passing the 400 metres, EL CAPITAN (P. Trevor) shifted in thereby tightening ISLE OF SKYE (David Egan) along the rails, forcing the latter to be checked and drop back. After questioning, Jockey P.Trevor has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

Passing the 200 metres, DHARASANA (C. S. Jodha) shifted out under pressure thereby inconveniencing PENSE’E (Neeraj Rawal) who had to be steadied. Jockey C. S. Jodha has been cautioned.

 

After the race, Jockey David Egan (ISLE OF SKYE) reported the loss of whip near 200 metres. This being his first instance during the current Mumbai Meeting 2019/20, no action has been initiated.

 

After the race, PENSE’E was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(125) – THE KINGFISHER ULTRA INDIAN DERBY (GR.1): (About) 2400 Metres – Runners – 20

 

After being stalled, LIGHTNING BOLT (Akshay Kumar) reared up and sat on his haunches. The colt was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. who certified him fit to race. Trainer L.V.R.Deshmukh has been asked to give the colt more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, JUSTIFIED (A. Imran Khan, dr.13) jumped outwards on to TRAFALGAR (Y. S. Srinath, dr.14), who in turn shifted out and bumped WELL CONNECTED (David Allan, dr.15). Jockey A.Imran Khan has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

Soon after the start, TROUVAILLE (Nicky Mackay) shifted in thereby tightening TOPNOTCH (Imran Chisty) and SOUTHERN RULER (C.S.Jodha), causing the latter to be checked.  Thereafter, SULTAN SULEIMAN (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in on to WAR HAMMER (Suraj Narredu) thereby starting a chain reaction, due to which TROUVAILLE (Nicky Mackay) TOPNOTCH (Imran Chisty), SOUTHERN RULER (C. S. Jodha), VICTORIOUS SERMON (A. Sandesh) and JULIETTE (Colm O’Donoghue) were tightened for room and had to be checked. Jockeys Nicky Mackay and Neeraj Rawal have been fined Rs.5,000/- each.

 

Soon after the start, ROYAL CRYSTAL (S.John) shifted in and went across TRAFALGAR (Y.S.Srinath) and tightened the field on his inside, due to which JUSTIFIED (A.Imran Khan), NORTHERN ALLIANCE (Yash Narredu) and  SIR SUPREMO (N. S. Parmar) were inconvenienced and ARMAITY (C. D. Hayes) was tightened and had to be checked and dropped back. Jockey S.John has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

 

Passing the 2000 metres, TRAFALGAR (Y.S.Srinath) shifted in thereby tightening JUSTIFIED (A.Imran Khan) causing the latter to be checked and drop back, due to which ARMAITY (C.D.Hayes) also had to be checked. Jockey Y.S.Srinath has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

Approaching the 600 metres, NORTHERN ALLIANCE (Yash Narredu) shifted out and carried ARMAITY (C.D.Hayes outwards. Thereafter, passing the 500 metres NORTHERN ALLIANCE (Yash Narredu) veered out and carried TOPNOTCH (Imran Chisty) outwards and finished the race on the extreme outside. After the race, Jockey Yash Narredu reported that his mount had veered out despite his efforts. Trainer Neil B. Devaney has been asked to show his charge in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, WAR HAMMER was observed to have lost its left fore shoe.

 

RACE NO.7(126) – THE PADMINI & GOBIND JHANGIANI MILLION: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 13 

 

Soon after the start, STORM BREAKER (David Egan) shifted in under urgings and went across CASTILIAN (P. Trevor) causing the latter to be checked and drop back. Jockey David Egan has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

Soon after the start, DANDI MARCH (David Allan) leaned outwards and carried MAKHTOOB (C. S. Jodha) and HEADWAY (Nicky Mackay) outwards.

 

Approaching the red marker, MZILIKAZI (C. D. Hayes) shifted in thereby inconveniencing CASTILIAN (P.Trevor). Jockey C. D. Hayes has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

Approaching the 300 metres, HEADWAY (Nicky Mackay) leaned outwards on to QUESTINA (Dashrath Singh) forcing it outwards. Jockey Nicky Mackay has been cautioned.

 

After the race, Jockey Dashrath Singh (QUESTINA) reported that his mount hung in despite his efforts.

 

After the race, Jockey Bhawani Singh (DAZZLING STAR) reported the loss of whip passing the 350 metres. This being his first instance during the current Mumbai Meeting 2019/20, no action has been initiated.

 

After the race, QUESTINA was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.8(127)  – THE  TATTERSALLS MILLION: (About) 1000 Metres –Runners- 13 

 

On the arrival at the start, Jockey Akshay Kumar (WORLD IS ONE) informed that the breast belt of the saddle on his mount was broken, hence the same was fixed again.

 

TURMERIC TOWER (App.P.S.Kaviraj) jumped out slow losing about 2 lengths at the start.

 

Passing the 400 metres, MIGHTY WARRIOR (Bhawani Singh) was held up due to lack of room.

 

Passing the 200 metres, SANDMAN (A.Imran Khan) was held up due to lack of room.

 

After the race, JULIO CESARO was trotted and found to be sound.

RE : JOCKEY COLM O’DONOGHUE ASKED TO APPEAR BEFORE THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB FOR MISBEHAVIOUR DURING THE ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “KING SOLOMON” IN RACE NO.41- THE VENUS DE MILO TROPHY RUN ON 21ST DECEMBER, 2019 :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 2nd February, , 2020 interviewed Jockey Colm O’Donoghue in the above connection. Having heard Jockey Colm O’Donoghue and having deliberated the matter, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him and held him guilty of misbehaviour in the Stewards Room on 18th January, 2020. The Stewards noted that this was his second offence of a similar nature during the current Mumbai Meeting. Taking an overall view and keeping in mind that he had tendered an apology, the Stewards decided :-

a)       to suspend his Jockey’s licence for 1 Race Day i.e. 23rd February, 2020 (permitted to ride work/mock race);

b)       to fine him a sum of Rs.20,000/-;

c)       to warn him that a repetition of similar offence in the future will entail severe disciplinary action.

RE : RACES RUN ON 24TH JANUARY, 2020 :

1) Trainer Karthik Ganapathy has been fined Rs.1,000/- for accepting with his charge STAR COMRADE in The J.V.Shukla – Ashwamitra Trophy run on 24th January, 2020 while the gelding was on Veterinary Ban. The gelding was struck out at the Acceptance stage.

2) Trainer C. Rajendra has been fined Rs.1,000/- for accepting with his charge DANCE SMARTLY in The Isn't She Special Plate run on 24th January, 2020, whilst the filly was under Starter’s ban. The filly was struck out at the acceptance stage.
