RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “BE SAFE” IN RACE NO.241 – THE OMKAR INDIAN TURF INVITATION CUP (GR.1) RUN ON SATURDAY, 07TH MARCH, 2015 :

Trainer M.Narredu and Jockey Suraj Narredu were questioned in the above connection and having heard them and having viewed the recording of Race No.232 as also the previous races of BE SAFE, the Stipendiary Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by them and held them guilty of unsatisfactory running and riding of BE SAFE, an On Money favourite. In that, it was noted that there was a change of running tactics of the horse in this race as compared to his run in the McDowell Indian Derby (Gr.1) where the horse was settled in a much better position and he was in a striking position at the top of the straight whereas in the race in question, he was settled too far behind and the Jockey did not bother to improve his position between the 1000 and 800 metres and thereafter on entering the straight he again waited for nearly 100 to 150 metres to make his move and allowed QUASAR (App.Yash Narredu) to take a long lead which has cost him the race. Despite this, Trainer M.Narredu was satisfied with the Jockey’s riding.

Therefore, the Stipendiary Stewards decided :-

i)              to suspend Mr.Suraj Narredu’s Jockey’s Licenses w.e.f. 26th March 2015 to 5th April 2015 (both days inclusive) (Permitted to ride work/ Mock race) for unsatisfactory riding of BE SAFE rand have referred the matter to the Stewards of the Club for further action as deemed fit;

ii)             to fine Trainer M.Narredu a sum of Rs.10,000/- as per the norms, for unsatisfactory running of his charge and and have referred the matter to the Stewards of the Club for further action as deemed fit.
