RE:
ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF (DREAMS, DR.2) IN RACE NO.65 THE CONRAD
PUNE CUP RUN ON 28THNOVEMBER 2021.
Trainer
Nazzak B. Chenoy vide her letter dated 17th December 2021, informed
that her instructions were to jump and sit back, save the filly as much as
possible, and once he turned for home to ride her out and do his best further,
she also explained the reason for the change of tactics.
Jockey T. S.
Jodha on being questioned on 20th December 2021 with regards his
riding stated that his instruction were to take a good jump and sit behind try
to come from the back and do his best, and if you are not in the fighting line
not to punish the mare. To a specific question he said that if you are in a
winning position only then to use the whip. To another question he confirmed
that he was well aware of the rule that all riders have to do their best so as
to obtain the best possible position in the race.
Race in
question was viewed and it was impressed upon him that his handling in the
straight was feeble; race no. 35 the mare’s previous race where the mare was
ridden by App. P. Shinde was viewed and having watched both the races Jockey T.
S. Jodha was informed that the Stipendiary Stewards would like to question him
in the presence of the trainer.
On 24th
December 2021 Trainer Nazzak B. Chenoy and T. S. Jodha were questioned into the
captioned subject matter and the Trainer was informed that having gone through
her letter the Stipendiary Stewards had taken objection to the riding efforts
of Jockey T. S. Jodha especially in the straight. Thereafter the race in
question was viewed and the trainer reiterated that she had asked him not to
punish the mare unnecessarily. Jockey T. S. Jodha on being question in the
presence of the trainer stated that the filly was not in form and even if he
had ridden flat out she would have may be run a length or two better, to a
specific question he concurred with the Stipendiary Stewards and agreed that it
was his mistake and would be careful in the future.
Having heard
the submissions made and viewing the race, the Stipendiary Stewards are not
satisfied with the explanation tendered by the Jockey T.S. Jodha he has been
fine Rs.5,000/- for failing to persevere with his mount.

RE:
ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF (BOTERO) (DR.4) IN RACE NO.54 THE
GLASNOST PLATE RUN ON 21st NOVEMBER 2021.
As Jockey C.
Umesh was unavailable due to his riding engagements he was contacted over video
call on 29th December 2021 and on being questioned he said that his
instructions were to take a good jump, try and go to the front, and coming to
the straight to do your best.
The race in
question was viewed and on being asked for his observations Trainer P. Shroff
stated that he has followed the instructions and after the race the Jockey
informed him that being the first run and also that he was weakening he had not
pressed hard on him when asked for his observations Trainer P. Shroff stated
that the Jockey had followed his instructions and had kept niggling and riding
in the straight.
Having heard
the submissions made and viewing the race, it was impressed on both the Trainer
and Jockey that the Stipendiary Stewards take a strong objection to the
Jockey’s riding efforts in the straight. However, considering that it was the
first run of the gelding Jockey C. Umesh has been fined Rs.10,000/- for failing
to persevere with his mount and Trainer P. Shroff has been fined Rs.10,000/-
for tacit approval.
