RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 2 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 5 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 6 METRES AWAY UPTO THE WINNING POST.
FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 2 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.
On a request from Trainer Shazaan Shah, permission was granted to Trainer Sangramsinh N. Joshi to saddle his charges MYRCELLA in the 2nd race, LORD MURPHY in the 4th race, RAMBLER in the 5th race & LION KING in the 8th race, at his own (Trainer Shazaan Shah’s) risk and responsibility.
RACE NO.1 (84) THE CABRIOLET TROPHY-DIVISION II - (ABOUT) 1000 METRES - RUNNERS - 11
POWER OF BLESSSINGS (K. Nazil, dr.8) was reluctant to stall. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race.
At the start, DIVINE SOUL (Amyn Merchant dr.2) jumped inwards and made contact with RED DUST (N. K. Ashish, dr.1).
At the start, HARRIET (App. P. Shinde, dr.7) jumped outwards onto POWER OF BLESSINGS (K. Nazil, dr.8) thereafter SONISHA (App. A. S. Peter, dr.10) shifted in thereby forcing HOUSE OF LORDS (App. Mustakim Alam, dr.9) inwards causing the latter to shift across POWER OF BLESSINGS thus making contact with HARRIET.
Soon after the start, SLAM DUNK (S. A. Amit) shifted in under urgings thereby tightening the field on his inside due to which SONISHA (App. A. S. Peter) and HOUSE OF LORDS (App. Mustakim Alam) had to be checked thereafter SLAM DUNK further shifted in as a result tightening RED RIOT (Akshay Gaikwad) and HABIBI (App. P. Vinod) causing both horses to be checked. After questioning and not being satisfied with the explanation, Jockey S. A. Amit has been fined Rs.4,000/-.
Approaching the 800 metres, HARRIET (App. P. Shinde) was held up for room as a result leaned outwards onto SONISHA (App. A. S. Peter).
The Sr. V.O. reported that after the race, SONISHA came back lame by right fore leg and found to have injury behind left hock. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, HARRIET was trotted and found to be sound, RED RIOT was observed to have lost its left hind shoe.
RACE NO.2 (85) THE HUNT FOR GOLD TROPHY- DIVISION – I (ABOUT) 1400 METRES - RUNNERS - 15
The Sr. V.O. reported that MYRCELLA (H. Zeeshan) was examined at the Starting Gates and found to be sound, the mare came back sound after the race also.
After being stalled, MYRCELLA (H. Zeehshan, dr.14) played up as such the mare was taken out and examined by the Sr. V.O. who certified her fit to race. Trainer Shazaan Shah has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the mare to the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Soon after the start, PHENOM (N. S. Parmar) shifted in thereby tightening MIGHTY WINGS (K. Nazil) causing the latter to be checked. Jockey N. S. Parmar has been cautioned.
Soon after the start, PHENOM (N. S. Parmar) racing between BOMBER (A. Sandesh) and REMY RED (J. Chinoy) was tightened for room and had to be checked. Jockey A. Sandesh has been cautioned.
Passing the 1200 metres, PRINCE IGOR (N. B. Kuldeep) shifted in thereby tightening and inconveniencing RUBIK STAR (Bhawani Singh) causing the latter to be checked. On questioning Jockey N. B. Kuldeep stated that his mount was very keen and in his effort to settle had leaned inwards, having heard the submissions, Jockey N. B. Kuldeep has been cautioned.
After the race, Jockey Antony Raj S. (LIBERATION) reported that his mount was hanging-in in the straight. Trainer Karthik Ganapathy has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, PHENOM was observed to have a cut injury on right hind coronet.
After the race, SKY COMMANDER, GOLDEN RULE & LIBERATION were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.3 (86) THE ICEBREAKER TROPHY - (ABOUT) 2400 METRES - RUNNERS - 7
After the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (GEOGRAPHIQUE) reported that his mount was inclined outwards in the straight. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, GEOGRAPHIQUE was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.4 (87) THE CABRIOLET TROPHY-DIVISION I – (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS - 12
CHAMPERS ON ICE (S. Mosin, dr. 9) was reluctant to stall, thereafter planted in the stall taking no part in the race. Since, the mare had behaved in a similar manner in the last outing. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the mare in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race.
At the start, VICTORY CHANT (J. Chinoy, dr.2) leaned outwards and made contact with BETTER HALF (N. Nadeem, dr.3) as a result both horses lost ground.
Soon after the stat, ADONIS (Prashant P. Dhebe) shifted in and brushed he haunches of SUPERIMPOSE (R. Ajinkya) causing the latter to be unbalanced.
App. A. S. Peter (UNTITLED) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his 2nd offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2022/23, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.
After the race, STARS FOR YOU was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, VICTORY CHANT was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.5 (88) THE SMASHER TROPHY - (ABOUT) 2000 METRES - RUNNERS - 7
The Sr. V.O. reported that LORD FRANKEL ran with bandages on both fore, permission for the same was not obtained. As such, Trainer S. Padmanabhan has been fined Rs.1,000/- for his lapse.
After the race, LORD FRANKEL was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.6 (89) THE DECENT PROPOSAL TROPHY - (ABOUT) 1000 METRES - RUNNERS - 12
At the request of Trainer Hosidar Daji, JET TYPHOON was examined in the stable area at 1:30 pm on 04/02/2023 and was found to have Urticaria as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
At the start, POWER OF NEATH (K. Nazil, dr.6) jumped outwards due to which TABRIZ (App. A. S. Peter, dr.7) shied out and brushed the haunches of SKY HAWK (Imran Chist, dr.8).
Soon after the start, RAECHELLES PRIDE (App. N. K. Ashish) and IMPERMANENCE (R. Ajinkya) were observed to have jostled.
Approaching the 700 metres, IMPERMANENCE (R. Ajinkya) leaned inwards onto HILMA KLINT (App. P. Shinde) who in turn shifted in thereby tightening and inconveniencing TRINKET (App. P. Vinod) causing the latter to drop back thereby inconveniencing SKY HAWK (Imran Chisty) . Jockey R. Ajinkya has been cautioned.
After the race, RAECHELLES PRIDE was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.7 (90) THE PICASSO TROPHY - (ABOUT) 1400 METRES - RUNNERS - 13
SIM SIM (Amyn Merchant) & SINGER SARGENT (P. Trevor) were reluctant to reach the starting point thereby delaying the start. Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures and ensure that his charges reach the starting point on time.
Soon after the start, GREAT GUNS (R. Ajinkya) shifted in at the same time ARABIAN PHOENIX (K. Nazil) shifted out and they made contact.
Approaching the 300 metres, CLAUDIUS (P. S. Chouhan) shifted out under urgings thereby forcing KINGS BEST (A. Sandesh) outwards due to which SINGER SARGENT (P. Trevor) racing on its haunches had to check and change course also EXCELLENT GOLD (App. Mustakim Alam) had to be steadied. After the race, Jockey P. S. Chouhan reported that his mount had suddenly shifted out and added that he may be feeling his right fore, as such, the colt was subjected to veterinary examination and found to be sound. In view of the report from the Sr. V.O. and keeping in mind the erratic behavior of the colt, Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to show his charge in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, before next accepting to race.
Approaching the 200 metres, KINGS BEST (A. Sandesh) leaned inwards and went across SINGER SARGENT (P. Trevor) who had to be steadied. Jockey A. Sandesh has been cautioned.
After the race, KINGS BEST was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The horse has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, PURE and CLAUDIUS were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.8 (91) THE HUNT FOR GOLD TROPHY- DIVISION – II (ABOUT) 1400 METRES - RUNNERS - 14
At the start, DAGGER’S STRIKE (Amyn Merchant, dr.7) jumped inwards and made contact with A GOOD CHANCE (S. J. Sunil, dr.6).
After the race, Jockey Prashant P. Dhebe (NOBILITY) reported that his mount was running green in the straight. Trainer M. K. Jadhav has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to the race.
After the race, A GOOD CHANCE was trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1st & 5th race, viz. SLAM DUNK & THUNBERG, and the special samples of KINGS BEST (7th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

ADDITIONAL REPORTS:
RE: DANGEROUS RIDING ON “CAMPAIGN” IN RACE NO.78 – THE V. P. KOREGAONKAR PLATE - RUN ON 22ND JANUARY 2023 - STEWARDS ENQUIRY
Pursuant to the Stewards enquiry held on 22nd January 2023 in reference to the captioned subject matter, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 4th February 2023, having heard Jockey C. S. Jodha and having viewed the video of Race No.78, held him guilty of dangerous riding. In that, passing the 200 metres, Jockey C. S. Jodha (CAMPAIGN) shifted in under urgings onto TOUSSAINT (A. Sandesh) who in turn shifted in onto SOUZA (App. Kirtish Bhagat) racing along the rails thereby causing severe interference to them and also inconveniencing RUBIK STAR (R. Ajinkya) and MARLBORO MAN (J. Chinoy) who had to be steadied. Hence, the Stewards of the Club decided to Suspend his Jockeys licence for 4 race days i.e. on 19th, 25th & 26th February and 9th March 2023 (permitted to ride work/mock race).

RE: SAMPLING OF HORSES VIZ. WORDSMITH UNDER THE CHARGE OF TRAINER P. SHROFF AND VIJAYA UNDER THE CHARGE OF TRAINER ADHIRAJSINGH JODHA WHICH ARRIVED FROM HYDERABAD.
The following horses arrived from Hyderabad on 31st January 2023 and in accordance with the rules were subjected out of competition to testing.
1. WORDSMITH,
2. DYF
3. VIJAYA and
4. ZAFIRAH
Accordingly, WORDSMITH, who was the first to arrive, was sampled and thereafter, VIJAYA along with two other horses namely DYF and ZAFIRAH were subjected to sampling and the samples of WORDSMITH, DYF and ZAFIRAH were sealed in the presence of the Trainer and/or his representative. However, at the time of packing the sample of VIJAYA it was observed by the Vet on duty that the barcode number printed on the bottles did not match.
In view of the above, the previous sample collected from WORDSMITH was once again scrutinized and it was found to have a similar error in the barcode number. Thereafter, the matter was reported to the Stewards of the Club and as per direction the samples so collected were abandoned.
Subsequently, on 1st February 2023 both horses i.e. WORDSMITH and VIJAYA were subjected to sampling. Having collected the same with due approval of the Stewards of the Club these samples have been sent for analysis.
Further, the Stewards at their meeting held on 4th February 2023 have directed the Stipendiary Stewards to conduct a detailed enquiry into the matter and place their findings before them.
