MUMBAI MEETING 2022/23, FIRST DAY, SUNDAY 4TH DECEMBER 2022.

RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED 2 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 3 METERS AWAY AT 1200 METERS, 5 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 7 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 8 METRES AWAY UPTO THE WINNING POST.

 

FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 5 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha, permission was granted to Trainer Himmat Singh to saddle his charge EXEMPLIFY in the 3rd race, at his own (Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(15) – THE A. HOYT PLATE : (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS -  8

 

SPECULATOR (S. Zervan, dr. 1) swayed his head as the start was effected thereby losing about 3 lengths at the start.

 

At the start, PERIWINKLE (K. Nazil, dr.7) jumped outwards thereafter VERDANDI (App. P. Vinod, dr.8) leaned in and they made contact.

 

Passing the 1300 meters, SANDMAN (Vishal N. Bunde) shifted in under urgings and went across SPECULATOR (S. Zervan) who had to be steadied. Jockey Vishal N. Bunde has been cautioned.

 

Approaching the 100 metres, SANDMAN (Vishal N. Bunde) leaned inwards thereby tightening and inconveniencing TASMAN (App. Mustakim Alam). After the race on questioning, Jockey Vishal N. Bunde stated that his mount hung in despite his efforts. Also in an effort to straighten his mount he lost his whip, Jockey Vishal N. Bunde was informed that this being his first instance of whip loss during the current Mumbai Meeting 2022/23, no action has been initiated. However, In view of the gelding having behaved in a similar manner in his previous starts, Trainer Nirad Karanjawala has been asked take remedial measures and show his charge in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, before next accepting.

 

It was observed that Jockey D. A. Naik (JETFIRE) have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2022/23, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, Sr. V.O. reported that SANDMAN was found to have bruised injuries on both his hind pasterns.

 

After the race, Sr. V.O. reported that TASMAN was found to have injuries on his left gaskin, left shank (outside) and right hock (behind), the gelding was given first aid treatment and sent to the stables.

 

After the race, BLAZING BAY was trotted at the stables and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (16) – THE SETH RAMNATH DAGA TROPHY DIVISION I : (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS -  11

 

Soon after the start, RAMBLER (S. Zervan) leaned inwards and went across QUEEN O’ WAR (N. S. Parmar) who was marginally slow to begin.

 

After the race, FARRELL was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.3 (17) – THE SIR RAHIMTOOLA CHINOY TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1800 METRES – RUNNERS -  7

 

PRESIDENTIAL (P. Trevor, dr. 3) jumped out slowly losing about 2 lengths at start.

 

After the race, EXEMPLIFY was trotted and found to be sound and KAMARIA was observed to have cut injury inside left hind fetlock.

 

RACE NO.4 (18) – THE SETH RAMNATH DAGA TROPHY DIVISION II: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES –RUNNERS – 10

 

On arrival at the start, at the request of App. P. Vinod (OCEAN OF GOD) was examined by the Club Sr. V. O. who certified him fit to race.

 

ESPERANZA (S. Zervan, dr. 5) was reluctant to stall. Trainer Shazaan Shah has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the filly to satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

OCEAN OF GOD (App. P. Vinod, dr. 6) jumped out slowly losing about 5 lengths at the start. Trainer Himmat Singh has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and to show his charge to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, ESPERANZA (S. Zervan) shifted in and went across SOVEREIGN MASTER (App. P. Shinde) who in turn shifted in thereby inconveniencing MAGILETO (Bhawani Singh). Jockey S. Zervan has been cautioned.

 

Passing the 700 metres, INTENSE APPROACH (S. J. Sunil) shifted in and went across DESERT FIRE (App. Mustakim Alam) causing the latter to check and change course, thereby  inconveniencing NOLAN (Vishal N. Bunde) racing on its haunches. After questioning Jockey S. J. Sunil and not being satisfied with the explanation, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-

 

Passing the 400 metres, SOVEREIGN MASTER (App. P. Shinde) shifted out under urgings and went across OCEAN OF GOD (App. P. Vinod) causing the latter to check and change course. After questioning, App. P. Shinde has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

In the final stages of the race, ESPERANZA (S. Zervan) was observed to have hung out despite the riders efforts. Trainer Shazaan Shah has been asked remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

LORD AND MASTER (P. Trevor) was observed to have hung-in in the straight. Trainer P. Shorff has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ESPERANZA, LORD AND MASTER, OCEAN OF GOD and SAN SALVATORE were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5 (19) – THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1800 METRES – RUNNERS -  15

 

LADIDA (Bhawani Singh, dr.3) planted in the stall taking no practical part in the race. Trainer Karthik Ganpathy has been asked to show his charge in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race.

 

Approaching the 400 metres, PHENOM (Prashant P. Dhebe) leaned inwards and made contact with FAIRMONT (S. Zervan). Jockey Prashant P. Dhebe has been cautioned.

 

Approaching the 300 metres, FAIRMONT (S. Zervan) shifted in and went across EDMUND (S. J. Sunil) who had to be steadied. Jockey S. Zervan has been cautioned.

 

After the race, Jockey Prashant P. Dhebe (PHENOM) reported that his instructions were to sit well up or go to the front, however, his mount was slowly off thereafter he was crowded by the field and was unable to sit in a position as instructed. Further, he stated that in the early part of the race his mount had become very keen and was overreaching the front runners.

 

After the race, Jockey S. Zervan (FAIRMONT) reported that his mount hung out throughout the race, despite his efforts as a result he was unable ride her out. Trainer Nosher Cama has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, FAIRMONT and ZBOROWSKI were trotted at the stables and found to be sound.

 

After the race, MARLBORO MAN was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(20) – THE A. C. ARDESHIR TROPHY (GRADE 3) : (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS – 4

 

After the race, FLYING VISIT was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(21) – THE IBRAHIM A. RAHIMTOOLA TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS -  12

 

At the request of Trainer Faisal A. Abbas, FORTUNE TELLER was examined in the stable area at 8.40 a.m. on 04/12/2022 and was found to have painful right capped elbow and lame by right fore leg, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, RAECHELLES PRIDE (App. Mustakim Alam) was inclined outwards and went across MOONSHOT (N. S. Parmar) and inconvenienced LION KING (App. N. K. Ashish).

 

Approaching the 1000 metres, RAECHELLES PRIDE (App. Mustakim Alam) leaned inwards thereby tightening and inconveniencing SILVER BELLS (Yash Narredu), causing the latter to check and drop back. After the race on questioning, App. Mustakim Alam stated that his mount was bit erratic soon after the start and in his effort to control had shifted in. Trainer Altaf Hussain has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

Passing 200 metres, CHARLIE (Vikram Jodha, dr. 8) shifted out under the whip. On questioning Jockey Vikram Jodha stated that his mount had reacted to the whip and shifted out thereafter he corrected the same.

 

After the race, SILVER BELLS and CHARLIE were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO. 8(22) – THE V. R. MENON PLATE : (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS -  14

 

CHAMPERS ON ICE (App. P. Vinod, dr.8) planted in the stall taking no practical part in the race. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to show his charge in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race.

 

MARIELLA (Akshay Gaikwad, dr.14) jumped out slowly and thereafter did not race an effective gallop, thereby losing considerable ground at the start. Trainer Shazaan Shah has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show his charge to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, AHREN (R. Ajinkya, dr.9), jumped outwards onto NORD (App. A.S. Peter, dr.10).

 

Approaching the 400 metres, C’EST L’AMOUR (App. Mustakim Alam) shifted in under urgings thereby bumping and tightening MYRCELLA (R. Shelar) causing the latter to check and drop back. On questioning App. Mustakim Alam , he stated that his mount leaned in and he had immediately corrected it. App. Mustakim Alam has been cautioned.

 

Passing the 100 meters, PRINCESS OF NAPLES (App. P. Shinde) leaned inwards and brushed the railings.

 

After the race, PRINCESS OF NAPLES was trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 4th & 7th race, viz. MAGILETO and MOONSHOT, and the special samples of EXEMPLIFY (3rd race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

 

The urine and blood samples of the ZUCCARELLI (Winner – 6th race) and NORTHERN LIGHTS (2nd place -6th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
