ADDITIONAL REPORT:

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “DIVINE THOUGHTS” (DRAWN 3) IN RACE NO.97 – THE OCTOBER HANDICAP DIVISION I – RUN ON SUNDAY, 9TH OCTOBER 2022:

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that the saddle used on DIVINE THOUGHTS had shifted forward during the race and in view of the same they had initiated an enquiry.

In connection with the above on being questioned Trainer Altaf Hussain stated, that his instructions were to take a good jump go to the front and to do his best in the straight. On being asked about the saddle having shifted forward, Trainer Altaf Hussain pointed out that the Apprentice had gone to the front and thereafter leaned backwards also, the saddle had a wide frame and because of the apprentices riding position the saddle may have shifted.

App S. Saqlain on being questioned stated that his instructions were to go to the front and if someone is chasing then to sit 2ndto a specific question he stated that the saddle belonged to Jockey Prashant P. Dhebe and he had used it for the first time. It was pointed out to him that when the horse was inspected immediately after the race the saddle was in its proper position he explained that soon after the jump the saddle had shifted forward and at the time of pulling up after the race the saddle had moved back to its position. The race was viewed at which time Apprentice S. Saqlain pointed out that the saddle had slipped forward approaching the 1000 metres. due which he was constantly looking down and even in the straight he had looked down.

Having viewed the race and heard the submissions made by both Trainer and the Apprentice Jockey the Stipendiary Stewards were of the view that there is no doubt that the saddle had shifted forward during the race, the fact the frame of the saddle was wider than usual at the pommel may have been one of the reasons for the saddle to shift forward. Hence, reported the matter to the Stewards of the Club.

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 6th November 2022 having viewed the race in question and heard the submissions made by Trainer Altaf Hussain and keeping all the circumstances in mind decided to give the benefit of doubt to Trainer and Jockey, however, they were cautioned to be more careful in the future.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RIDING OF JOCKEY N. S. PARMAR ON “POWER OF BLESSINGS” (DRAWN 9) IN RACE NO.100 – THE RAO SAHEB KEDARI GOLD TROPHY – RUN ON SUNDAY, 9TH OCTOBER 2022:

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that considering Trainer Sangramsinh N. Joshi was not happy with the riding of Jockey N. S. Parmar they had initiated an enquiry.

On being questioned Trainer Sangramsinh N. Joshi stated that he had instructed Jockey to take a good jump and sit in the mid bunch anywhere 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th because the field is big and if he feels the horse is  sluggish at the start give him a chance to come on and improve around the bend and do his best. On being asked about his observation of the race he pointed out  that turning for home the gelding was in a good position and after the race the rider had reported to him that the gelding was flat and was going nowhere he added that when he had questioned jockey N.S.Parmar as to how he could say that the horse was flat without making an effort to ride out Jockey N.S.Parmar had  replied that due to the kick back, he could not see anything.

The race in question was viewed and on questioning jockey N.S.Parmar having confirmed the instructions and stated that he could not see anything due to the kick back and further requested to watch the rider of MARLBORO MAN (R. Ajinkya) who was wiping his goggles, and also requested to see this horse’s previous race when Jockey N. Nadeem rode him.

.

After viewing the race in questioned and previous runs of the horse Jockey was informed that he should have made little more effort considering where he was placed rather than dropping back behind the front horse and then having to deal with the kick back. Trainer S.N.Joshi stated that whilst others were pushing he was only sitting there.

Having viewed the race and heard the submissions made by both trainer and jockey and keeping in mind that the trainer was not happy with jockey N.S.Parmars efforts the Stipendiary Stewards reported the matter to the Stewards of the Club.

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 6th November 2022 having viewed the race in question and heard the submissions made by both Trainer and Jockey and keeping all the circumstances in mind decided to give the benefit of doubt to Jockey N. S. Parmar, however, he was cautioned and asked to be more careful in the future.
