RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED 4 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES LEADING TO 4 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.
On a request from Trainer B.Prakash, permission was granted to Trainer Nina Lalvani to saddle his charge KAYLA in the 2nd race, at his (Trainer B.Prakash’s) risk and responsibility.
Permission was granted to Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha to saddle the charges of Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha viz. YODHA SHAKTI (6th race), MT TIANMEN (7th race) and UMARKOT (8th race), at his (Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha’s) risk and responsibility.
On a request from Trainer C.D.Katrak, permission was granted to Trainer Adil Dajee to saddle his charges HIMALAYAN QUEEN (4th race) and MOVE IN TIME (9th race), at his (Trainer C.D.Katrak’s) risk and responsibility.
RACE
NO.1(331) - THE BEJAN BHARUCHA PLATE: (About)1600 Metres. Runners – 8
SKY LANTERN (R.Shelar) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Ivor Fernandes has been asked to take remedial measure before next accepting to race the mare.
Jockey T.S.Jodha (NIGELLA) has been fined Rs.1,000/- for using the whip in the excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. He has been fined a further sum of Rs. 1,000/- for using the whip after the winning post.
After the race, PRETTY LIGHTS was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind pastern and GAABRRIO had lost its right hind plate. SINDBAAD was found to be sound.
RACE NO.2(332) – THE KLAIRON GOLD PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres. Runners – 9
App.Yash Narredu (DANCING PRETTY) reported that his mount ran green during the race.
RACE NO.3(333) – THE NIGHT CROWN PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres. Runners – 5
An objection was lodged by Jockey P.Trevor, rider of EL CAMINO (Placed Second) against HOSHIYAAR (A.Sandesh, Placed First). The reason being, passing the 400 metres when his horse started moving comfortably on the bit, HOSHIYAAR drifted out and bumped him whereby the horse got unbalanced and lost more than half a length and thereafter hesitated to pass, which cost him a certain race.
After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards upheld the objection and revised the order of placing of the race as under :
EL CAMINO - FIRST; DANSE DEBONAIRE - THIRD;
HOSHIYAAR - SECOND; TROPPA BELLA - FOURTH.
RACE NO.4(334) – THE CURSETJEE DHUNJISHAW TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres. Runners – 8
Soon on entering the straight, PROVIDENCE (App.Bhawani Singh) shifted out and went on to SIMPLY SWEET (C.S.Jodha) and bored the latter for a few strides. App.Bhawani Singh has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
An Enquiry has been initiated into comparative performance of ICE ZONE and the running and riding of HIMALAYAN QUEEN & STARISTOCRAT and a report will be submitted shortly.
After the race, HIMALAYAN QUEEN and STARISTOCRAT were found to be sound. The Sr.V.O. reported that at the request of Trainer M.Narredu, STARISTOCRAT was again examined at the stables in the morning on 19/04/2015 and found to be sore by the right hind leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
RACE NO.5(335) – THE KLAIRON GOLD PLATE (DIV.II):(About) 1400 Metres. Runners – 9
After being stalled, HIGHLAND KING (Deep Shanker) hooked its hind on the side partition. The colt was taken out and restalled. Trainer C.Rajendra has been asked to give the colt more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
HIGHLAND KING (Deep Shanker) ran erratic during the race.
After the race, SENSEX was observed to have an injury at the right nostril. RUNNING STORM was found to be sound.
RACE NO.6(336) -THE QUEST FOR CASH PLATE:(About) 1400 Metres. Runners– 14
The Sr.V.O. reported that at the request of Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi, ADVANCE TO CONTACT was examined at 1000 hours on 18/04/2015 and was found to be sore by the left hind leg. As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
MZURI (Neeraj Rawal) was restless in the stall. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Soon after the start, SUMMER EXPRESS (App.S.J.Sunil) shifted in and made contact with ZAAGROS (App.Bhawani Singh). App.S.J.Sunil has been cautioned.
Approaching 800 metres, MIDNIGHT RUN (App.Akshay Gaikwad) shifted in and tightened CEASARINA (J.Chinoy). App.Akshay Gaikwad has been cautioned.
CEASARINA (J.Chinoy) did not get a clear run between the 300 and 200 metres.
Jockey Dashrath Singh (SHAUGHNESSY) reported that his whip got entangled with the reins in the straight and he had difficulty in freeing it.
The Sr.V.O. reported that MAALIK was examined at the stables in the morning on 19/04/2015 and was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, SEVEN SEAS was found to be sound.
RACE NO.7(337) - THE FROZONE CUP (DIV.I): (About) 1000
Metres. Runners -11
Passing 800 metres, SANAM (I.Pasha) was steadied while racing behind MT TIANMEN (App.D.S.Daman).
App.S.J.Sunil (SUNSHINE HEART) reported that his mount was inclined to lean inwards during the race and near 600 metres shifted-in and caused interference to PEIZIERES (T.S.Jodha). App.S.J.Sunil has been fined Rs.2,000/- for not making sufficient efforts to control his mount.
Jockey Dashrath Singh (SPEAR OF TRIUM) has been fined a sum Rs. 3,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.
After the race, PEIZIERES was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, BRAZIL was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.
After the race, SANAM was found to be sound.
RACE NO.8(338) -THE CAMBAY TIGER CUP:(About) 1000 Metres. Runners– 11
On arrival at the start, ASHRAFIE (A.Ashhad Asbar) was examined by the Club’s V.O. and found to be sore from the left fore leg. As such, the filly was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn from the race before coming under the Starter’s Order. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
Soon after the start, SOOTHSAYER (App.Yash Narredu) was tightened due to lack of room.
Approaching 800 metres, EL WONDER (Mudassar Nazar) shifted in and caused interference to AINRA (Akshay Gaikwad). Jockey Mudassar Nazar has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
Jockey Dashrath Singh (INCENTIO) reported that his Instructions were to be up with the field but since the gelding did not have speed in the early part of the race, he was unable to follow the Instructions.
RACE NO.9(339) - THE FROZONE CUP (DIV.II): (About) 1000
Metres. Runners -10
On arrival at the start, WITHOUT FEAR (Darren Williams) was examined by the Club’s V.O. and found to be sore from the right fore leg. As such, the filly was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn from the race before coming under the Starter’s Order. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
ZARAR (P.Trevor) was very fractious and restless in the stall. Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials
After the race, FAJR was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “LOVEABLE LOCKS” RIDDEN BY VIKRAM JODHA IN RACE NO
328 : THE RUSTOMJI BYRAMJI TROPHY – DIV II RUN ON 12TH APRIL 2015
Trainer H.J.Antia and Jockey Vikram Jodha were questioned in the above connection. It was pointed out to Jockey Vikram Jodha that in the final 300 metres he had unnecessarily shifted out under the use of the whip and did not attempt to take the gaps that came his way and instead continued to shift out and lost valuable ground, considering the short verdict of ¾ of a length between LOVEABLE LOCKS (Placed 6th) and the 4th Place horse POLAR ZONE. The Trainer concurred with the observation made by the Stipendiary Stewards. After enquiring into the matter and not being satisfied with the explanation of the Jockey, he was charged with Incompetent Riding. Considering his request that he did not wish to appeal against this decision and that his suspension may start early, it was decided to suspend his Jockey’s License for 26th April 2015.

DECEMBER, 2014 WHICH WAS REPORTED POSITIVE FOR “BOLDENONE” – UNER THE CHARGE OF
TRAINER ARIF HUSSAIN :
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 18th April, 2015 interviewed Trainer Arif Hussain in the above connection. Having thoroughly enquired into the matter into the matter and having applied their minds to the entire facts and circumstances of the case and to all papers, proceedings reports and records and also having permitted him to make submissions in the matter, the Stewards found that he had no mitigating circumstances to offer in the subject case and held him vicariously responsible for breach of the Medication Rules governing the finding of BOLDENONE, an anabolic steroid, in the urine sample of unnamed 3-year-old Ex – Be Friendly.
Taking an overall view and keeping in mind that this was his first infringement of the Medication Rules, the Stewards took a lenient view in the matter and decided :-
a) to suspend his Trainer’s license for a period of 90 days i.e. Should he apply for a license for the Season 2015/16, it will be granted to him, however, his license will stand suspended w.e.f. 23rd July, 2015 to 20th October, 2015 (both days inclusive).
b) To fine him a sum of Rs.10,000/-.

THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “ARMEL” IN RACE NO.285 – THE JEHAN NUMA PLATE RUN ON
THURSDAY, 26TH MARCH, 2015 – TRAINER H.J.ANTIA AND JOCKEY HANUMANT
SINGH :
The Stewards of the Club at their meetings held on Sunday, 5th April, 2015 and thereafter on Saturday, 18th April, 2015 interviewed Trainer H.J.Antia and Jockey Hanumant Singh in reference to the captioned subject matter.
The Stewards considered the submissions made by you and viewed the video recording of the race in question as also the horse’s previous run i.e. Race No.197 where the horse had finished a short-head second. By the Trainer’s own admission, the normal style of running of ARMEL was to hit the front or be well up, however, in Race No.285 the horse was ridden contrary to his running pattern, which, according to him was one of the reasons for the horse performing poorly. The trainer stated that the instructions were given by the Owner and he does not go against his owners even if he was not in agreement with them.
The owner confirmed to the Stipendiary Stewards that the instructions were given by him in Race No.285 to sit in 4th or 5th position since the horse carried top weight and in the previous race he went to the front and stopped in the last part. Keeping in mind the drift of odds and the poor performance of the horse, the Stewards took exception to this and expressed their dissatisfaction.
Attention of Trainer H.J.Antia was drawn to Rule 167 ( c ) of the Rules of Racing of the Club and he was warned that in future, if he wishes to change the running tactics of a horse, he must inform the Stipendiary Stewards before the race.
Further, attention of the Owner was also drawn to Rule 25 of the Rules of Racing of the Club and he was advised that if he wished to change the running tactics of his horse, the same should be brought to the notice of the Stipendiary Stewards before the race.
