He said that despite this horse having won over a mile in a lower class, he felt that he was more a 6 furlong horse and not a miler. RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE IMPROVED PERFORMANCE OF “ASHRAFIE” (WINNER) IN RACE NO. 191 – THE BLUE HORIZON PLATE RUN ON 12TH FEBRUARY, 2015 AS COMPARED TO HER PREVIOUS RUN WHERE SHE WAS UNPLACED:

Trainer Sanjay Kolse and Jockey A.Ashhad Asbar were questioned in the above connection. Trainer Sanjay Kolse stated that he ran this horse in a short period of time on insistence of the owners. To a further question, he agreed that it was he and not his owners who are responsible for the running and riding of his horse. The Stipendiary Stewards held Trainer Sanjay Kolse guilty of contraventing the Calendar Notification with regard to improved performance of ASHRAFIE, for the following reasons:-

1)       He ran the horse in a gap of 13 days.

2)       Even though the horse was at longer odds she was well backed by the connections.

3)       Common horse SHAUGHNESSY had finished ahead of ASHRAFIE in the previous run i.e. Race No.168.

4)       She was 15 lengths behind the winner in the previous race.

5)       The efforts of Jockey A. Ashhad Asbar in the previous race was unsatisfactory.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF “COLD PLAY” IN RACE NO 191 – THE BLUE HORIZON PLATE (1200 METRES – DR.9)  RUN ON 12TH FEBRUARY, 2015 – TRAINER SUBHAG SINGH AND JOCKEY S.ZERVAN :

Trainer Subhag Singh and Jockey S.Zervan were questioned in the above connection. Jockey S.Zervan said that he was instructed to take good jump and sit in a decent position wherever he could without hassling the horse, and to do his best. He said on jump out he asked the filly to get into a position and the filly was decently quick into her stride and down in 3rd/4th position. He said that he got slightly cut off by the horse from the outside at the 800 metres after which he found the filly losing pace, hence he started to push her and entering the straight he changed his whip hand and gave her a couple of cracks and pushed but she remained there and there and the other horses accelerated and went away. He said that immediately after the race he informed Trainer Subhag Singh the filly needs to be ridden off the pace without being hassled in the early part and to preferably run her over 1400 metres.

Trainer Subhag Singh confirmed the instructions and added that this race did not pan out the way he had thought and that it not suit the filly. He confirmed that the Jockey spoke to him after the race and he accepted the Jockey’s advice that in future the filly needs to be ridden off the pace and preferably over 1400 metres. It was pointed out to Trainer Subhag that her previous run (Race No.100) was over the same distance of 1200 metres and the filly had finished second, ahead of two common horses GRAND MARCH and NATIONAL PRIDE. Trainer Subhag Singh said that in the previous race the pace was slower and it was a weaker set as compared to Race No.199. Also, GRAND MARCH had got knocked at the start in that race. He reiterated that he now agrees with the Jockey that being well up possibly does not suit the filly. He said that even in the first run of her career, the filly was well up but did not improve in the straight and other times when ridden from the back, she had shown turn of foot after turning for home. He said that the filly was still a maiden. To a question, Trainer Subhag Singh stated that he was very disappointed with the run and he would attribute the poor run to the following reasons :-

  The pace did not suit the filly in Race No.191;

  The field was tougher in Race No.191 as compared to Race No.100;

  The timing of Race No.191 was faster as compared to Race No.100.

Under the circumstances, the Stipendiary Stewards the enquiry was kept open till the future running of the horse.
