PUNE MEETING 2014, NINTH DAY, SATURDAY, 13TH SEPTEMBER, 2014.

(PENETROMETER: 6.0; GOING: GOOD TO YIELDING)

RACE DAY REPORTS

FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED TAPERING DOWN TO 9 METRES WIDE FROM WINNING POST UPTO 1000 METRES, THEREAFTER LEADING TO 12 METRES WIDE UPTO THE WINNING POST.  FALSE RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED 3 METRES WIDE AT THE 1200 METRES CHUTE.

 

THE STARTING GATES FOR THE 1000 METRES RACES WERE POSITIONED AT APPROX. 1037 METRES, FOR 1200 METRES AT APPROX. 1205 METRES AND FOR 2400 METRES AT APPROX. 2426 METRES.

 

RACE NO.1(122) – THE  PERSONIFIED PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – 7 Runners

 

Near 1000 metres, LEOTHEFIERCEHORSE (A.Sandesh) shifted-out as the gelding was being settled and went on to STAR BENEVOLENT (C.S.Jodha), who went on to LEONTINE (S.G.Prasad), who in turn went on to ADAMS WING (Kavraj Singh).

 

ADAMS WING (Kavraj Singh) was inclined to lug-in in the straight. Trainer Mangansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, NATIONAL GOLD was observed to have an abrasion at the left hind pastern, LEONTINE had a cut injury at the right hind bulb of heel and PUNE WARRIORS had a cut injury at the left fore fetlock. LEOTHEFIERCEHORSE was found to be sound but had lost its left hind plate.

 

RACE NO.2(123) – THE SPARK OF GOLD PLATE : (About) 1600 Metres – 9 Runners

 

MAHIMA (R.Shelar) lost about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer Ivor Fernandes has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Approaching 200 metres, NIGELLA (C.S.Jodha) was held up for a run while racing on the inside of ANSWER MY PRAYER’S (App.Yash Narredu) and behind DREAM YUGA (Dashrath Singh).

 

After the race, COME ALIVE was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The horse has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, VIVA ZAPATA was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(124) – THE  CONSEQUENCE PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – 10 Runners

 

JUST MY STYLE (D.A.Naik) ran unsettled during the race and near 800 metres inconvenienced QUANTUM (I.Pasha).

Near 500 metres, EDUARDO (S.Zervan) shifted-out to progress in the race, and went across STAR SKIPPER (J.H.Christopher). Jockey S.Zervan has been cautioned.

 

After the race, CENTAURUS and JUST MY STYLE were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(125) – THE  PREMIER COLLECTION PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – 12 Runners

 

TRENDING (J.Pradeep) refused to be stalled despite all efforts, as such, the gelding was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. Trainer Hosidar Daji has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race. 

 

Jockey P.Kamlesh (GLORIOUS CROWN) reported that his mount jumped out awkwardly.

 

Soon after the start, DARK WILLIAM (Sandeep Jadhav) shifted in with the Rider making no effort to control his mount and tightened PRETTY IN PATPONG (Hanumant Singh) on to GLORIOUS CROWN (P.Kamlesh) who itself was inclined to lug-out in the early part of the race. Jockey Sandeep Jadhav has been fined Rs.2,000/-.  Further,  Trainer Adil Dajee has been asked to take remedial measures with his charge GLORIOUS CROWN before next accepting to race the mare.

 

Near 900 metres, AMAZON CAT and ROCKING were badly tightened. In that, AMAZON CAT (R Shelar) who was along the rails, had to shift out due to the rails and went on to ROCKING (S.G.Prasad), who in turn shifted out and jostled with IZARRA (App.K.N.Bhati) who had also shifted in while taking the gap on the inside of STAR STUDDED (I.Pasha) who had also marginally shifted-in at that stage. Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated. 

 

App.Akshay Gaikwad (BLAZING FIRE) reported that his mount lugged-out throughout the race. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Jockey S.G.Prasad (ROCKING) reported that after the interference at the start, the gelding did not gallop freely and was trying to lug out during the race.

 

After the race, DARK WILLIAM, BLAZING FIRE, STAR STUDDED, PRETTY IN PATPONG, IZARRA  and ROCKING (examined on 14/09/2014) were found to be sound. DARM WILLIAM had a cut injury at the left fore pastern, BLAZING FIRE had a cut injury at the left fore fetlock and IZARRA had an abrasion at the right hind fetlock.

 

RACE NO.5(126) – THE ZEPHYR BAY PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres – 8 Runners

 

The saddle on INVICTUS (C.S.Jodha) was observed to have slipped forward during the race. As such, Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

After the race, JANIS JAY was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind bulb of heel and HIGHLANDER had a bruise above the right hock. INVICTUS was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(127) – THE RADICAL FORCE TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – 10 Runners

 

SUPREME MINSTREL (App.Bhawani Singh) was sluggish at the start thereby losing about 2 lengths.

 

At the start, ZADORA (D.K.Ashish) jumped out awkwardly.

 

Jockey A.Sandesh (ARTISTE) reported that his mount was inclined to lug-out in the straight. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, ZADORA and ARTISTE were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(128) – THE CONSEQUENCE PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – 11 Runners

 

At the start, CAPTAIN ABDON (Kavraj Singh), MALZIE (I.Pasha), ALETA (P.Trevor) and FIREPROOF (Kishore Kadam) jumped out awkwardly.

 

Jockey P.Trevor (ALETA) reported that his mount was sluggish at the start and was reluctant to get into its strides and lost ground.

 

Approaching 1000 metres, ZIPPY (Nirmal Jodha) was steadied while racing behind ZANA  (D.K.Ashish) and CAPTAIN ABDON (Kavraj Singh).

 

MALZIE (I.Pasha) ran unsettled throughout the race and also lugged out during the race and near 1000 metres, MALZIE (I.Pasha) drifted outwards and carried TOOFAN (Amyn Merchant) further out and again approaching 400 metres, MALZIE (I.Pasha) drifted out and went on to TOOFAN (Amyn Merchant). Trainer Altaf Hussain has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Passing 400 metres, REMARKABLES (Dashrath Singh) shifted out, due to which MALZIE (I.Pasha) shifted-out and went on to TOOFAN (Amyn Merchant), who in turn went on to BEACH GAME (S.S.Baria). Jockey Dashrath Singh has been cautioned.

 

Jockey S.Zervan (RAMESSES) reported that his mount lugged-in in the straight and passing 300 metres the gelding  shifted-in and made contact with ZANA (D.K.Ashish). Trainer P.Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, ALETA, ZANA and MALZIE (examined on 14/09/2014) were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8(129) – THE IDAR GOLD TROPHY (GR.3): (About) 2400 Metres – 8 Runners

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that after completion of the race, while returning ONE WISH collapsed near the 2200 metres mark. In spite of all possible treatment the gelding did not recover and died on the track.

 

RACE NO.9(130) – THE CAPE KNIGHT PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – 15 Runners

 

STORMY PRINCESS (App.K.N.Bhati) was reluctant to be stalled. ADAMS SPIRIT (App.D.S.Daman)was restless in the stall and not allowing the rider to settle. Trainers Mansoor Shah and Adhirajsingh Jodha have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

GRAND DUKE (Kishore Kadam) planted and took no part in the race. Trainer B.Prakash has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter in a Mock Race, before next accepting to race.

 

Passing 1200 metres, ADAMS SPIRIT (App.D.S.Daman) and THE OTHER SONG (Dashrath Singh) lost position when tightened for room.

 

Passing 600 metres, THE OTHER SONG (Dashrath Singh) shifted-out and carried FLASH DRIVE (Kavraj Singh) outwards, who was awkwardly placed behind the heels of ADAMS SPIRIT (App.D.S.Daman) and steadied. Jockey Dashrath Singh has been cautioned.

 

Shortly after 600 metres, FLASH DRIVE (Kavraj Singh) was steadied when ADAMS SPIRIT (App.D.S.Daman) shifted-in. App.D.S.Daman has been cautioned.

 

Near 500 metres, MOUNTAIN QUEEN (S.G.Prasad) shifted-in and inconvenienced SEVEN SEAS (Darren Williams). Jockey S.G.Prasad has been cautioned.

 

Passing 400 metres, THE OTHER SONG (Dashrath Singh) was inconvenienced as FLASH DRIVE (Kavraj Singh) shifted inwards. Jockey Kavraj Singh has been cautioned.

 

AUTUMN LOVE (App.Yash Narredu) and FLASH DRIVE (Kavraj Singh) lugged-in in the straight. Trainers M.Narredu and Adhirajsingh Jodha have been asked to take remedial measures with their respective charge, before next accepting to them.

 

After the race, ADAMS SPIRIT was found to be sound, but having a gum injury. AUTUMN LOVE also had a gum injury.

 

RACE NO.10(131) – THE PREMIER COLLECTION PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – 13 Runners

 

At the start, MR MORRISON (R.K.Mahesh, dr.11) jumped awkwardly outwards and carried MOHEGUN SUN (Vikram Walkar, dr.12) outwards and then both the horses made contact with each other.  

 

Soon after the start, YARDSTICK (S.P.Ranjane) suddenly ducked out and carried LOCARNO (App.K.N.Bhati) outwards, who went on to CYCLOPS (H.A.Sachin) who was awkwardly placed behind the heels of MR MORRISON (R.K.Mahesh) and steadied. 

 

Soon after the start, MOHEGUN SUN (Vikram Walkar) shifted in marginally and caused a chain reaction, wherein MOHEGUN SUN went on to  CYCLOPS (H.A.Sachin) who went on to YARDSTICK (S.P.Ranjane) who went on to  MISS MIRACLE (App.S.J.Sunil) who in turn went on to HIGHWAY EXPRESS (H.G.Rathod) who  made contact with PASSION PRINCE (Dashrath Singh). In this incident, HIGHWAY EXPRESS was badly tightened and lost position.  

 

App S.J.Sunil (MISS MIRACLE) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight. Trainer Karthik G. has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, COSMIC DANCER was found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winners of the 1st, 5th, 6th, 8th and 10th race, viz. NATIONAL GOLD, TIGER TOPS, PROVIDENCE, AMAZING GRACE and PASSION PRINCE, as also that of CIRCLE OF BLISS & RODEO (8th race), and the special sample of ZADORA (6th race) and COSMIC DANCER (10th race),  were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE RIDING OF JOCKEY A.SANDESH ON “FLASHING CHIEFTAIN” IN RACE NO.100 – THE  GENERAL RAJENDRASINHJI MILLION RUN ON SUNDAY, 31ST AUGUST, 2014 – JOCKEY A.SANDESH REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS FOR INCOMPETENT RIDING :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 13th September, 2014 considered the report from the Stipendiary Stewards on the captioned subject matter and having viewed the video recording of Race No.100, decided that no action was called for in the matter.

RE : APPEAL FROM JOCKEY A.SANDESH IN RESPECT OF THE DECISION OF THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS SUSPENDING HIS JOCKEY’S LICENSE FOR 27TH SEPTEMBER, 2014 FOR CARELESS RIDING ON “ZORAAVAR” IN RACE NO.118 – FIELD MARSHAL SAM MANECKSHAW MEMORIAL TROPHY RUN OIN SUNDAY, 7TH SEPTEMBER, 2014 :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 13th September, 2014 interviewed Jockey A.Sandesh in the above connection and having heard him and having viewed the video recording of Race No.118, decided to reject his appeal.
