MUMBAI MEETING 2013/14, SPECIAL RACE DAY, SUNDAY,  6TH APRIL,  2014.

(PENETROMETER: 3.6; GOING: GOOD TO FIRM)

RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED  5 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1200 METRES, 7 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 9 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 11 METRES AWAY UPTO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 7 METRES AWAY AT1000 METRES.

 

RACE NO.1(317) – THE SAMUEL NATHAN PLATE:(About) 1400 Metres – Runners -  10

 

At the start, MESMERIC (Neeraj Rawal) tried to veer to the outside, losing ground.

 

At the start, BY THE WAY (A.Ashhad Asbar, dr.5) jumped awkwardly outwards and at the same time QUANDO QUANDO (S.Mosin, dr.6) jumped awkwardly inwards and made contact with each other.

 

Jockey Kavraj Singh (MT TIANMEN) reported that his right rein slipped near 200 metres which he regained shortly.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the comparative performance of QUANDO QUANDO and SHOCKALOT and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, STRIKE AGAIN was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ALWAYS THERE was found to be sound, but having a cut injury at the right hind tendon and coronet. WINDSOR was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(318) –THE  BANGALORE TURF CLUB LTD TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres –Runners – 5 

 

ACCLAIMED (P.Trevor) lugged-in in the straight and in the concluding stages of the race, inconvenienced MYLA ROSE (C.S.Jodha). Trainer P.Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

RACE NO.3(319)– THE  SION F.NESSIM PLATE:(About) 2000 Metres – Runners – 8

 

After the race, SAVAGE GARDEN was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(320) – THE V.P.KOREGAONKAR  PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 10

 

Jockey J.Pradeep (DREAMLINER) has been cautioned for failing to continue making an effort till past the Post.

 

WILD WAVES hung-in in the straight. Trainer  Altaf Hussain has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, VANGUARD was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(321) – THE BAHRAIN TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 10

 

At the start, HUDSON HAWK (C.S.Jodha) shifted in as the gelding was tapped twice and caused interference to FORTUNA (N.S.Parmar) who in turn caused interference to CHLOBUD (Neeraj Rawal). Jockey C.S.Jodha has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

Shortly afterwards, CENTAURUS (D.A.Naik) was tightened while traveling on the inside of CHLOBUD.

 

Jockey P.Trevor (GREEK GOD, dr.9) has been fined Rs. 3,000/- for commencing to shift in before the Red Marker and in the process inconvenienced HEART OF THE CITY (Kavraj Singh) who was steadied.

 

RACE NO.6(322) – THE  KARL UMRIGAR TROPHY:  (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 10 

 

At the start, PEPITO (Deep Shanker, dr.9) jumped awkwardly inwards and went on to NATIONAL GOLD (Shrikant Kamble, dr.8) who in turn went on to SECRET OATH (J.Pradeep, dr.7).

 

On questioning Jockey Kavraj Singh, rider of SABERCAT, stated that his instructions were to settle the filly wherever comfortable and to ride out in the straight. He added that the filly was inclined to lug-in and also was hesitant to gallop freely. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

RACE NO.7(323) – THE M.D.PETIT PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 14

 

Soon after the start, NEPTUNE’S OCEAN (S.G.Prasad, dr.13) shifted-in and carried TITLEIST (I.Pasha, dr.12) inwards, who in turn made contact with SAN RAFAEL (C.S.Jodha, dr.11). Jockey S.G.Prasad has been reprimanded.

 

Near 300 metres, TEMPEST (N.S.Parmar) was held up for a clear run for a few strides.

 

Approaching 200 metres, TEMPEST (N.S.Parmar) shifted-in and made contact with MOUNTAIN WIND (S.P.Ranjane) who in turn shifted-in and caused interference to SUNTAN BEAUTY (B.Nikhil). Jockey N.S.Parmar has been fined Rs.2,000/-

 

After the race, EL WONDER, MARENGO, TITLEIST, GRAND MARCH, LIGHTENING THUNDER and MAALIK were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8(324) – THE M.D.PETIT PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 14

 

ICE PICK  (Vikram Jodha) planted and took no practical part in the race. Since the gelding had behaved in a similar manner in his previous starts, he has been banned from racing till the end of the current Mumbai Meeting and thereafter he has to be shown to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race. Further, Trainer H.J.Antia has been told that should the gelding behave in a similar manner in a race in the future, he is liable to be banned from racing.

 

Trainer H.J.Antia has been fined Rs 3,000/- for bringing his charges  ICE PICK, PRETTY IN PATPONG and  ROCKING late into the Parade Ring. The horses were brought into the Parade Ring as the other horses were leaving for the Start.

Trainer Mansoor Shah has been fined Rs.1,000/- for bringing his charge QUEEN OF VENUS without a Tongue Strap, an equipment for the use of which prior permission was obtained. The mare ran with a Tongue Strap.

 

Trainer Narendra Lagad has been fined Rs.1,000/- for running his charge SAMAY BALWAN in bandages on both fore legs without prior permission.

 

At the Start, SEVEN SEAS (Deep Shanker, dr.3) leaned outwards and went on to SAMAY BALWAN (H.G.Rathod, dr.4).

The Sr.V.O. reported that QUEEN OF VENUS was examined at the stables in the morning on 07/04/2014 and found to be sore by the right fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, MATEUS ROSE, BRAZIL, SAMAY BALWAN, STAR GAZING and STARRIANO were found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winner of 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th race, viz. BELVEDERE, ULTRASONIC, GREEK GOD and GODSPEED,  and the special sample of LOGANO (5th race) and QUEEN OF VENUS (8th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
